Diary Tells Her Story

Diary Tells Her Story

Tell us about yourself and your music

My name is Shambria Moss, professionally known as Diary. I’m a 24-year-old singer, rapper, songwriter & recording artist out of Augusta, Georgia. I’m well known for my smash hit single “Friend Zone,” which I released in April 2019. I’ve been writing music since I was 10, but I didn’t begin to record music until late 2018. I always believed music and entertainment was my passion. While I was in the service, I began to record. 4 months after my first single, “Friend Zone” was released, I was discovered on Genius. Ever since then, I’ve been releasing many other projects on all streaming services.

Talk to us more about your latest release

My latest release is my Sophomore album, ‘Pain Is Inevitable’ which is out now on all streaming platforms. This album was originally an EP project I was working on last year, but I decided to add more tracks and make it into an album. This album is about my past dealings with certain individuals who meant or still mean something to me. Telling my side of a story. My top track, “COVID 19 (Penitentiary),” has been making an impact on today’s music industry.

What inspired you to write this release?

What inspired me to write this release was to close a chapter in my life. The entire project tells my story piece by piece, from start to finish about my dealings with whoever, & the heartache and pain they may have caused. Making sure that people know relationships aren’t perfect no matter how bad you want them to be.

Describe the writing and recording process

The writing process for this project was very relieving. Getting a few things off of my chest before going into my next project. The recording is always fun with my engineer Cade. Working on my craft & doing different things each time we lay a track down.

Any plans to release a video?

Any plans to hit the road?

I plan to hit the road to do concerts and performances in the near future.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

The way that I stand out and brand myself and my music is I market my content every day on my own. I treat myself as if I’m not the artist herself. Managing Diary takes a lot of time because you never know what’s going to happen with life. Not a day goes by where I’m not talking about myself or showing any content of my artist. The way that I stand out from the rest of the artists, is I know exactly what my listeners want to hear. I don’t have to switch up my flies or do anything apart from myself to get the fans to love or listen to my music.

Who have you been listening to lately?

Lately, I’ve been listening to artists like Diary, Lil Baby, Sy Ari Da Kid, Mariah the Scientist, Kota the Friend, Jhené Aiko, Derez De’Shon, Akon’s new project, Nas’s new album, and many more others.

Who are your biggest influences?

I’d say my biggest influences are my parents, Beyoncé, R.Kelly, and Usher.

Tell us about your passions

My passions are music and poetry. I began writing poetry and short stories before I really got into writing music. At the time, I felt I didn’t have the voice to be an entertainer, but I set my insecurities aside as I grew older and became one of the biggest entertainers in today’s underground music industry. I tend to write whatever I’m feeling when it comes to both, but poetry gets more of my heart. I sing my heart out when it comes down to the music, but I write everything down from my soul.

What else is happening next in your world?

What’s happening next in my world as far as music goes, I have an upcoming project in the works, ‘Masterpiece.’ I decided to give my next project that name because I’ve released so much music that is a work of art. It further introduces me to the world of music. I’m currently a college student, working on myself each and every day. I’m also planning on releasing a book, “Diary of a Hopeless Romantic,” so be on the lookout for that.

Thanks for an awesome interview, Diary
