Tell us about yourself and your music
I started playing guitar and piano at an early age. I loved music to listen to. I tried to play the sounds I loved to hear. I started to write my songs.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My latest release, “Therapy” is a group of songs that I created. I love to improvise after I set the mood. I use different guitars and keyboard sounds to achieve different textures. Some are jazzy, some are rocky, some are atmospheric.
What inspired you to write this release?
My lighthouse is always an inspiration to create the feelings my music makes me feel.
My girlfriend of 20 years is also a huge inspiration.
Describe the writing and recording process
I start to think about the mood I am feeling and the mood I want to create.
Then I pick various aspects of the songs, such as tempo rhythm and the instruments I want to use. Sometimes it takes 20 tracks, one or two tracks.
Any plans to hit the road?
I have played many shows. I played live in the Virgin Islands in my 20s. Toured with several groups. I’m always open to offers for stage and studio work.
I play all the parts in my songs now in the studio!
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
I am a contemporary instrumental composer, producer, engineer, musician.
I do it all.
Who have you been listening to lately?
I love hearing many guitarists. Sad to had some like Chuck Loeb and Roland Dyens pass at such a young age.
Who are your biggest influences?
The Beatles were my first love. I learned the piano by ear from listening to Elton John.
Tell us about your passions
I am passionate about my girlfriend. We have a lighthouse we are trying to restore that we open to guests in the Summer.
I am also passionate about helping people as a financial advisor.
Most of all,, I am passionate about playing guitar and making music.
What else is happening next in your world?
As I age, I am amazed at the world as it changes.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Craig Morrison
