Change is coming

Tell us about yourself and your music

I am a singer song-writer born and raised in Los Angeles California. I started playing when I was 8 and started singing in bands when I was about 13. I started at an early age automatically attracted to blues and classics, Muddy Waters, Johnny Winter, Luther Allison, Led Zeppelin, etc. Being that my father was a guitar teacher and fusion player I probably couldn’t help but be influenced by my surroundings. By the time I was 14 though, I was heavily influenced by metal, Hard Rock, Metalcore. I picked up my mic and started singing in my first bands around the valley, Hollywood, and L.A. area, trying to follow the footsteps of bands at the time like Avenged Sevenfold, Killswitch Engage, and many other metalcore bands at that time. I pursued these bands till about 19 when a few disasters caused some good friends to break up. From that point on I started my path as a songwriter, writing and singing in every genre from Alt, Indie, Metal, post-hardcore, electronic, rock. Till’ about 26, something just hit, and I couldn’t take it anymore, years of trying to chase scenes and be someone else. So I picked up my guitar, hit the streets, and started making Hard Rock tunes with this Conception of a kick-ass rock band in mind. Bringing back all my influences from when I was a kid to now such as Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Guns n’ Roses, Motley, Zepplin, Sabbath, Humble Pie, Janis Joplin, Odis Redding, Big Mamma Thorton, Freddy King, Robert Johnson, Luther Allison, to modern stuff like Shinedown, Stone Sour, Avenged, Asking Alexandria, etc.
I’ve been working with producers such as Matt Squire, Eric Ron, Bob Marlette and Sahaj Ticiton working on tunes developing the sound of “Diamonds and Blood” I’ve just recently re-created and re-solidified the line up for the band and have been working on releasing the music one song at a time and finding better forms of distribution! Can’t wait for this storm of struggles and hard times to calm, so “Diamonds and Blood” can’t get back out there and start playing shows! Currently, we have some surprises in the works of new music, video and some other things. Can’t wait to release it in front of all youuu!!!

Talk to us more about your latest release

So there has been a lot of songs put in the archives because of people we where working with that were giving us musical direction such as “only release certain songs, style, these tunes aren’t good enough” ect.. and of course “only one single at a time” So one single was released and then, of course, this Corona thing hit and everything was put to halt. I decided to take these songs out from the box under my bed and just start releasing them one at a time personally until we can put out the new record coming soon!!

What inspired you to write this release?

oh man, well it’s hard to get deep right off the bat in an interview like this. But the Story of “Broken Man” is about a boy who was abused as a child and through learned behavior became the exact monster that he was running from his whole life. The end of the song is the self-realization that he (now the man) is that “Broken Man” that once was his father. Dealing with alcoholism and drug addiction to cover up his sadness and anger from abuse, the world, and the way things turned out in life. One day, he decides to be brave, put down the bottle, and accept who he has is. Hence the lyric “I’ve excepted to who am”  -That boy that became that man is me.

Describe the writing and recording process

So far it starts with me and my laptop, my voice and my guitar in my room. Then I take what I have created to an engineer/producer and flip it to them and start replacing instruments up to vocals. So far and on every tune “Diamonds and Blood” has released, I have played all the guitars, bass, and of course vocals! lol And then I’ll have my drummer come in and Rip the drums! Based on the beats and patterns I have created.

Any plans to release a video?

Any plans to hit the road?

Yepp! Sooner than later hopefully, due to this pandemic and social issues we’ve been having which has been very tragic to watch. First, we have to finish releasing our new singles and music video that’s coming in the next couple of months the latest August! And then Record! Hopefully, by the fall into New Year, we will be playing live again and hitting the road my dudes!

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

Well, the branding starts with the style and sound, though its heavy with hooky choruses and can blend in with many other Active Rock bands out there, it still carries a unique Hard Rock Style with classic roots as it underlining.

Who have you been listening to lately?

ah man, a bunch of stuff. I love with AudioSlaves record “Out of Exile” which used to be there 1st self-titled but now “Out of Exile” is kicking its ass lol  The Black Crowes “live in Koln 1992”  Luther Alison “Bad news is Coming”  Zeppelin IV and II Comes across of course

Freddy King.      a few tunes from Alice in Chains, Some Soundgarden come about lol

Who are your biggest influences?

don’t have any specifics. there all over the place man. Most of them are vocal influences 1st, then instrumental influences.

Probably the Voices of Lane Staley, Chris Cornell, Big Mamma Thorton, Luther Allison, Shinedown, Rage Against the Machine, Audio Slave, Sabbath and so many more man I don’t have like one big influence I can be listing bands and artist all day lol

Tell us about your passions

I like to stay active even while I”m writing and practicing, so before or after I like working out sometimes if I can and am not too tired lol Running, some boxing, haven’t in a while but surfing. working on my sobriety and spirituality is a big one, might be a little bigger than a hobby or passion lol but something like that.

What else is happening next in your world?

Ah man just more writing, singing, practicing, getting in the rehearsal room with the new line up as soon as possible, and going over all the tunes. The new music video, and currently meeting with some new labels for new distribution and management! So a lot of exciting things to come!
