Tell us about yourself and your music

I am a gay singer/songwriter in Orlando, Florida and one of the only actual native Floridians left. I have always written songs but it never felt like it was the right time. Eight years ago I got really sick and had to be hospitalized for about three months. When I got back on my feet, I knew I just had to do it; it was time for my music to get out in the world. But it has taken this long to get my singing voice back. These past years as I was writing new songs, I knew I had found my voice and what I wanted to say. I am currently working on my first studio album “Just B.” My songs are really personal and speak to my experiences in life, love and self worth.

Talk to us more about your latest release

My latest single is “Take It As It Comes” which is a fun Rock anthem about my life, growing up with my family. Originally I wrote this to myself and for myself as a type of self reflection; but, when I started putting songs together for this album, I knew it needed to go in. It is a true look into my life and I really thought it was a perfect fit for my introductory album.

What inspired you to write this release?

This song for me is about taking every moment in your life, whether you think it’s bad or good, and deciding what you can learn from it. Every little thing in our lives has led us to be who we are today; which I think is pretty freaking awesome!

Describe the writing and recording process

Honestly, songs just pop into my head; always have. So when it does, I will record a voice memo or write it down and head to my computer. I do all of my own instrumental arrangements in Logic ProX or GarageBand. Then when I am happy and excited about it I call the most talented person I know; Dan Reynolds. Dan records all of my stuff; his ability to hear harmonies and arrange everything together is unparalleled.  I know they are my songs, but Dan makes me the best I can be.

Any plans to hit the road?

This past year I was fortunate enough to perform at the Miss GayDays Pageant, Space Coast Pride, Inspire Orlando and a fundraiser for the Barber Fund at The Venue in Orlando. I have loved every minute of it! I don’t have a band which then classifies me as a track act and many places want a band for performances. But, I know that things are on the horizon. Hoping to perform at more Pride Festivals in the coming year; I will definitely keep the world informed.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

I believe my lyrics and sharing my stories while staying true to who I am is really my brand. It’s not about creating a persona for me, I am just me. And as a gay male in his 40’s, I am thankful to have a unique voice and a very eclectic music style.

Who have you been listening to lately?

We never listen to the radio, we always just listen to whatever I have downloaded on my phone. I usually prefer classic Rock and Pop. Erasure, Bob Seger, Tina Turner, Mika, Robbie Williams, Cher is a staple, I’m always kind of all over the place. I do love Lizzo, Taylor Swift, Missy Elliot, Panic at the Disco!, Pink, Fitz and the Tantrums.

Who are your biggest influences?

Tina Turner, Bruce Springsteen, Cher, Bette Midler, Bob Seger, Erasure, Robbie Williams just to name a few.

Tell us about your passions

We love traveling, going for wine with friends, and theme parks. I am always excited to get up in the morning! I have the best husband in the world and our beautiful pups are pretty awesome; we have a Boston Terrier named Tiana and a Beagle named Levi. My passion is always to live life to the fullest!!!

What else is happening next in your world?

I will have a new single coming for Valentines Day, “It’s About Love” and I am very excited about that!

I already have 10 songs mostly ready to record for the next album and I couldn’t be more excited about it!!! It’s going to be great!

Billy Mick Proves We Have To “Take It As It Comes” With New Single

New Pop Music Available Now

Minneola, Florida – January 22, 2020 – When Billy Mick decides to go from something, he’s all in. Last year he began his musical journey releasing a handful of singles including the addicting and invigorating “Flesh and Bone” and “Angel.” Now he’s kicking off 2020 with his latest release “Take It As It Comes.”

High energy from the start, “Take It As It Comes” is a powerhouse. Billy Mick’s vocals deliver a rugged and revitalizing vibe as he transforms from a musician to an adrenaline-charged storyteller. On par with the likes of Adam Lambert and P!nk, Billy Mick bridges the gap between pop and rock with ease.

While he sounds like a veteran of sound, Billy Mick is still new to the game but his journey to the present started several years ago. It was then he fell incredibly ill. So much so he was hospital bound for three months. During that time he vowed that if he got out, he’d pursue his musical endeavors. It took some time, but after attending Manchester Pride in 2018 with his husband, Billy was inspired by the overwhelming sense of community and acceptance he experienced as he watched the performers take the stage. That was the ultimate turning point and since then Billy Mick has played at Orlando’s Miss GayDays Pageant and at Space Coast Pride, released several singles and has an album on the way.
