Benz Boyz Jacpot Dinero breakthrough Artist
Tell us about yourself and your music
Absolutely! My music and artist on my record label connect to our audience through real-life experiences. We give you our experiences in relationships and personal issues we deal with within our lives. We let our fans get to know us and I think they love our creativity! I’m a songwriter/artist/ and I’m the CEO of Out Tha Mud ENT. So I want my fans to know I’m working hard every day as an indie label and new artist to take them on a journey with me. I describe my music as the essence of life! I give you different vibes on each track. My music range from pop to hip hop and my dream is to touch people from all over the world.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My latest release is a summertime smash and it has that Caribbean vibe. It’s about a summer fling with a fan and she wants a serious relationship, but I’m traveling on the road and I don’t have that in my plans lol. Ultimately Gets the club going crazy and girls on the dance floor. Summertime Bae EP in stores right now go stream on all platforms.
What inspired you to write this release?
My mom God rests her soul inspires me in all music! She was a great talent in the 80s doing showcases in L.A. So music is in my blood and I just want to keep hers and my dream alive. People compared her to Whitney Houston! I remember her singing every morning as a little kid and she sacrificed her dreams for her four boys. So my mom is my biggest inspiration.
Describe the writing and recording process
Yeah as a songwriter you’re only as good as your next song. So I try to have fun and be innovative and creative in my writing process and recording process. My album Benz Drip that’s dropping October 31st is pure freestyle because the vibe was there that day in the studio! But my cursed EP was all writing in my basement cooped up during the coronavirus while everybody thought the apocalypse was coming lol. So it’s fun and exciting each time. I patent a recording process that I created call fusion rap. I explain it as two super artists combining their vocals making a masterpiece. Like a super saying lol. Examples of songs Cursed, Sick and Tired, poison, etc.
Any plans to release a video?
Any plans to hit the road?
- I definitely want to hit the road lol. I’m a showman, that’s the greatest part, doing live shows engaging with the crowd. I’ve done a couple of local shows at clubs in Kansas City and two shows in Atlanta, but nothing on the scale I’m looking for! I want to do full tour dates and big festivals and open up for major artists. But I understand the climate we in due to COVID-19. It really turned our country and the entertainment industry upside down. Artists and entertainers have to be really creative to connect with fans now. As a new artist, it’s been a real challenge getting the exposure I need due to restrictions of this COVID-19 virus. I see the major artists doing virtual shows, just not the same as live and in person. The energy is different when you do live shows. If anybody listening book me! I’m available lol no concert or tour dates currently, but I look forward to touring the U.K. They love me out there lol. How about you guys make that happen lol.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
As an indie artist, it’s much harder because you don’t have that well-oiled machine backing you up. So you have to be more creative and more consistent than other artists. You really need to educate yourself as an indie label on the industry ins and outs. Read books lol I heard you guys at ArtistPR.com have great information for indie labels. I brand myself as an underdog with a winning story. Kinda like David and Goliath. Indie label me (David) Major record label (Goliath) you guys know the story to that. My music stands out because I have a unique sound and I don’t sound like any other artist so you get something brand new, something different to learn about. Like no one doing hi pitch adlibs like me, innovation. But I do want to collaborate with major artists like Future, Lil Baby, Moneyman, Chris Brown, Roddy Rich, etc. Can someone from ArtistPR.com make that happen lol? I respect those artists for their creativity and what they bring to the culture. Authenticity wins every time, so that’s what I bring to the table.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Honestly, since COVID-19, I have been working on my craft. Haven’t had time to listen to no one since that time frame. But like I said before I respect artists like Roddy Rich, Future, moneyman, Dipset, YSL artists, Kendrick Lamar, The Game, etc. I love a lot of oldies too! Sade one of my favorite all-time artists and vocalist.
Who are your biggest influences?
First and foremost I own everything to my lord and savior Jesus Christ! Without GOD I would be nowhere, I wouldn’t have the talent and drive without the creator. On this earth I have my initial influence on my mom Deborah Mcqueen, then after that, I have different phases of influences. First, it was MC Hammer’s great showman. Then Eazy E., N.W.A, Snoop Dog Hip Hop legends. Put the west coast on the back. I remember Bone Thugz and Harmony as an influence, they had a crazy fast flow. Mase he had me on my fly stuff! Cameron was a big influence also. For the new wave, I would say Travis Scott because he doesn’t have to say too much to have dope songs. That’s kind of like me, I think me and him mastered that! Because sonically and digitally we appeal to the ears and the brain and take you to Mars lol.
Tell us about your passions
My passions are spending time with my beautiful girls, watching them grow. Also making hit records and seeing how people react. I get joy when people email me and say they woke up playing my music. Surreal feeling that I don’t take for granted. I love sports, basketball my favorite. I don’t think there is any artist in the industry that can beat me in basketball, I could of went pro lol. I was supposed to be Lebron before Lebron lol. Last but not least I like helping people. I’m working on a cancer foundation in remembrance of my mother The Deborah Lynn Huff Mcqueen foundation. It’s going to help people that want to see their loved ones in their last moments, that need airfare if they can’t afford to fly where ever their family is. That’s another dream of mine. Can someone at ArtistPR.com make that happen lol
What else is happening next in your world?
Stay tuned!!! I don’t wanna give too much, but look forward to new music. Album dropping October 31st, 2020, and December 10th, 2020. I’m the hardest working new artist, that will be 40 plus songs I put out since May. Blood sweat and tears they say. I invested in myself and my career and I hope the world appreciates me James Jackson AKA Jimmy Corleone. Definitely new visuals new videos hopefully a podcast and documentary coming later down the road. Skys the limit like Biggie said. Definitely need to grow my social media presence and want more industry exposure. Can someone at ArtistPR.com make that happen lol.
