Artist Interview: SoSo
Tell us about yourself and your music
I’m 21 years old living in Kansas City, my battle with internal thought is what ultimately led me to pursue this life long addiction to the entertainment industry. It’s more than a facet for words in a pattern, it’s like an obsessive compulsion to write and write and write, not even neccecarily my life, but more along the lines of the stories I feel need to be heard. I’ve only been rapping on a real level for about a year and a half. My debut E.P. is set to release on February 24th wherever digital music is sold.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My latest release was in direct response to my hometown really starting to dig my path and sound of music. “Pack In” was a remix I did of an original Hippie Sabotage song.
What inspired you to write this release?
The pure sound mind and soul of Hippie Sabotage. All respects to them, their sound for it has truly inspired my music.
Any plans to release a video?
My first video “Imagine” produced by Canis Major is out now on YouTube, a true lyrical ballad to those suburban kids in the midst of their own personal rebellion.
Any plans to hit the road?
No set dates yet for a tour etc. however will be attacking this avenue with full force upon the release of my Debut E.P. Titled “SoSuS”
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
First and foremost, I let my music speak for itself, I’m very against shoving a sound down someone’s throat and expecting a reaction. I’ve learned that I need to just stay in my lane and dig myself before anyone else can.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Kembe X, and Alex Wiley which I happen to work with on visuals etc.
Tell us about your passions
Art gets me out of bed. I have a terribly blessed problem with not being able to walk by people on the street without lending a helping hand. And that’s the truth.
What else is happening next in your world?
After I release my project on February 24th, I plan on pushing it hard in the overseas markets such as Europe, Asia etc.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Justin!
