Tell us about yourself and your music
I was influenced by music at a very young age, listening to my father and uncles. Taught myself to play guitar, piano, harmonica and accordion. I love to sing from the heart. I always love to promote my originals but some of my shows (depending on venue) consist of songs by Sheryl Crow, Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt and more.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My latest release is titled ‘Hang On’. Songs are inspired by true events in my life or by someone that has touched my life.
What inspired you to write this release?
Life. For me as a writer an idea can spark at any moment. That is why I keep paper, pen and guitar bedside.
Any plans to release a video?
Yes, I think the video was produced in my head before the ink had time to dry during the writing process! I feel that the video I invision will help make this a breakout song.
Any plans to hit the road?
Yes, that is something I would like to do. Right now I have been writing less country and more in the style of Janis Joplin to Sheryl Crow. Recently put together a new band and we are currently deciding what we want to do when we grow up!
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
You need to be different and some artist stand out because of gimmicks or crazy outfits. I’m old school, focus on lyrics and vocals. When the CD was recorded it was done in a more traditional style. I have a lot of songs that play on words and with the new band we will be re-inventing some of these songs to be more edgy.
Who have you been listening to lately?
I listen to a variety of music. However, if I am writing a certain genre then I will not listen to other artists of that genre during the writing process. I don’t want to copy anyone’s style unless I am performing a cover song by an artist who’s voice I can channel.
Tell us about your passions
Life. I love life, my family and my friends!
What else is happening next in your world?
I have three CD’s released and have enough material for another two. So, I am hoping to get busy in the studio with the new band.
