Artist Interview: Lean Cuisine The Rapper
Tell us about yourself and your music
My name is Peter, and I plan to change the world through my music and messages. I come from a family of not wealth, but love and the will to survive. I wish to bestow all my talents and efforts to help others instead of pushing a false materialistic view. I was born in Buffalo and moved away to a small town when I was I was young, no longer living a sheltered life due to a bad neighborhood. Through this opportunity and curse, I was able to build my craft and rediscover the musical passion I’ve had since a kid. My music is about life and my life specifically in the means to reach out to others and relate, instead of pushing money, drugs, sex, and degrading women. I push the right to feel human and the fact we are all the same. I push the need to throw away labels to identify ourselves, as we should just be ourselves. My music is all about me and the people, and I push that narrative so someone would rather listen to a track than take their lives. I also wish to give back to others using my own wealth no matter how much I have or don’t. People who go through rough situations deserve help without it being federal, I wish to make that more well known. I will push my music and messages to remind humanity we are all human, the same and that we should help each other without judging.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My latest release, “Lean’s Mind” is about my thoughts and the struggles I faced getting as far as I am now in my craft and progression. It provides insight into my mind and how I felt as I made the track live with no writing, to show people I truly put myself in the music and never fake it.
What inspired you to write this release?
What inspired to write me to this release, is that I wanted to relate to others and tell my story. In fact, this was a spur of the moment track and I never wrote this down beforehand. Through my pain and frustrations, this track was created from my mind to tell my story and describe the thoughts I felt and feel the whole time while I make my music to help others.
Any plans to release a video?
At some point I plan to release a video for this track, but for now I am busy with other projects.
Any plans to hit the road?
At some point, I will, but for now, I lack sufficient funding.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
As an indie artist, I direct my raw emotions, thoughts, and feelings into my music to create tracks that really make people feel human. I create the sense they can relate to me even if not exactly in my specific situation to show people we’re all the same. No matter the race, ethnicity, and gender we all go through the same pain and struggles in our everyday lives.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Lately, I’ve been listening to Ryan Caraveo, Kid Cudi, 2Pac, Logic, Mac Miller, Lil Dicky, Ollie, Abstract, Chris Webby, Madchild, B.O.B, Joji, rei brown, Vsoul, Hangman, BLACK C.A.S.H. and more. I listen to music that has meaning. I listen to music that has positive and soulful messages to help guide people and nothing else.
Tell us about your passions
When I wake up in the morning, the sense of achieving new successes in my life goals and new hobbies gets me out of bed. As humans, we can achieve anything we wish to; that even includes getting over hurdles in our lives to better ourselves. By challenging ourselves, we discover more about ourselves we wouldn’t have if we didn’t wake up and get out of our beds. Every day is a gift, and we must not waste it. This is why I wake up every day, to achieve more and find more of who I am and what I can do. I apply this to everyone because we are capable of more than just working and dying, we were put on this earth for a reason.
What else is happening next in your world?
I plan to become a motivational speaker on top of all I do now, to help others cope while I change the world no matter how long it takes.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Peter!
