Artist Interview: Jeep White
Tell us about yourself and your music
I write from the heart, either trying to convey my personal experiences or feelings on a subject through the story line of my songs. Every story I tell has a meaning either obvious or hidden. I look to touch the listener with my music.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My latest record “My Radio” is a mixture of Blues, Americana, Country and Bluegrass.
What inspired you to write this release?
I wanted to move beyond my Country roots and show that I was a more versatile writer and performer.
Any plans to release a video?
Not at the moment. I would like to find a backer for my “Red Paper Hearts”. I think it would make a powerful visual statement.
Any plans to hit the road?
I’m hoping by 2019 that I have my affairs in order enough to try some touring. Definitely on my bucket list.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
I’m an old school kinda guy which may seem like a disadvantage, but actually puts me ahead of the game. I don’t write shit just to try to get recognized or chart. I write meaningful tunes that develop ear worms and get stuck in your head. I’m an out front interactive performer and try to involve the listener or audience in my own emotional journey.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Tell us about your passions
I’m a biker as in I love riding my motorcycle.
I’m on the board of the Lowcountry Blues Club trying to expand the Blues scene in Charleston SC.
What else is happening next in your world?
I’m working towards another album release. My next venture will be very heavily in the Blues.
I’m spending a lot of time working on my guitar playing. I play with with a group now called “Jeep White and the BBE” doing an eclectic songlist of my originals a fair amount of electric Blues. I hoping to move beyond that into a power trio group.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Jeep!
