Artist Interview: Ina Bravo
Tell us about yourself and your music
I’m a recording artist from Amsterdam and a songwriter for record labels such as Epic, Atlantic and Armada. Although it may sound cheesy, my music is a reflection of the state that I’m in emotionally or have been in at a recent time in my life. I write about everything that comes to mind and melodies are my tools to make it sound like a hit! I’m a girl that made a move to persue the American dream at age 19 without family to support my career so I have a looooot of stories and a Hell of a story as an artist.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My latest release is Insanity. This was a collabroation with DJ Chuckie who’s from my hometown in Holland. The Hague. This song is a club banger but also relates to anyone having been in a relationship that has turned into insanity at some point.
What inspired you to write this release?
It was the poisonous relationship that I was in at that time to write down the things. I wish I could say to the person but I knew I’d hurt his feelings if I would, so I put it in a song.
Any plans to release a video?
Yes, not for insanity unfortunately, but I’m planning to release a new song called “Cold War” and a video in February. So keep your eyes open!! This is gonna be crazy!!
Any plans to hit the road?
The only dates I have planned right now start in March at House of Blues.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
I write songs for others which gets me the opportunity to connect and pay dues to ask for them to return a favor by promoting my single. I also use also use Instagram to involve my fans with my lifestyle rather then bombing them with what I do, that way people fall in love with you and ME is my brand.
Who have you been listening to lately?
I’ve been listening to Bruno Mars’ new album it’s amazing. The Weekend is pretty good. Sia’s songwriting is sooo Unique and powerful. And then Anderson Paak is really something else!
Tell us about your passions
I like going to the movies. Going to the beach. Just getting inspired. Hiking.
What else is happening next in your world?
I’ve been asked to go on the Voice this season. Not sure if I should. Would be amazing to get that kind of new audience but i’m doing pretty good owning all the rights to my music haha.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Ina!
