Artist Interview: Gigi Love

Tell us about yourself and your music

Lately, I’ve been singing on the Amtrak trains as the first official Trails and Rails Troubadour for the national parks. This month National Parks Magazine is doing a profile story on my new title as the Troubadour and it will reach over 1million subscribers.

Talk to us more about your latest release

My latest release is called National Parks Centennial Songs. I was inspired to write songs for our national parks because of their pristine beauty and wilderness that exists within the parks. Currently, our parks, and public lands are being threatened by fracking, mining and extraction companies, and this threat is real so I’m hoping my songs will help raise the public awareness around theses issues and inspire people to protect our national parks and public lands.

What inspired you to write this release?

The Grand Canyon gave me a life changing experience where I felt a release of all fear from the conditioning of society and I saw the beauty and connection of all living things. I wanted other people who have never been there to feel that and be inspired to go visit it too.

Any plans to release a video?

In October several videos that I filmed in the parks this summer of 2017 will be released on Youtube. The videos are for Glacier, Yellowstone, Crater Lake and Grand Teton. All videos were filmed in the parks with special permits and exquisite wildlife and nature clips.

Any plans to hit the road?

I’ve been touring all spring and summer in the national parks and on the Amtrak trains. I’ve also performed at benefits concerts in Colorado for the Mesa Land Trust, and also summer concert series in Redstone. I’ll be at the Beaver Meadows Auditorium in Rocky Mountain National Park on Sept. 22, during the busiest time of the year because the elk are mating and the colors are changing in the trees.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

I’m an environmentalist with a focus on our national parks and public lands. I find it refreshing to write songs about these magical places and truthfully, no one else has ever made a whole album dedicated to our national parks.

Who have you been listening to lately?

I listen to Beth Orton, Emmylou Harris, Anders Osborne, Nahko and Medicine for the People, Krishna Das, and Allman Brothers.

Tell us about your passions

Meeting new people and planning the next adventure really gets me excited about each day. I love to go to yoga and eat yummy organic foods. My radio show, Trains, Trails and Troubadours on Indie Air Radio has been a real challenge and motivator for me to meet interesting people and have them tell me their stories. Check it out at

What else is happening next in your world?

I’m excited to film my next music video on the Big Island of Hawaii for my song Pele’s Fire. We’ll be filming that this October.

Thanks for an awesome interview, Charlene!
