Artist Interview: Fubbly

Tell us about yourself and your music

I am a 16-year-old rap artist from the east coast, I have been making music for a few years now. It all started out with writing poetry in school when I was younger. when I started listening to other artists like asap rocky, nav, Tyler the creator etc. it influenced me to put words into songs on my own, And over time I grew a love for it.

Talk to us more about your latest release

I dropped a single called “bad intentions” which I personally consider my best creation. I really went crazy on the vocals, and I got in my feels when I was writing the lyrics. I like my music to represent me and what I’m feeling at that moment

What inspired you to write this release?

I was recently going through some difficult times with love and friends, and I was undergoing a deep depression and wanted to release those emotions by turning negative thoughts into something positive

Describe the writing and recording process

I record in my bedroom with a $50 blue snowball mic, and I use my friends beats for headphones. I also mix my vocals myself with FL studio. I’ve been using the same mic for over 2 years but everything I release seems to get better and better sounding

Any plans to release a video?

I have big intentions on a music video, I just want to find the right time and it has to be the perfect song. If I’m releasing a music video I want it to be my breakthrough track for my future career. Although I have been releasing my singles on YouTube for people to check out in the meantime.

Any plans to hit the road?

I have had a couple of performances the last few months that went pretty well, I definitely want to go touring once the time is right and I’m ready to tear it up. But right now I believe it’s best to keep building my brand and expand my social media until then.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

I try to show contrast when it comes to my music by jumping from different styles frequently and having no hesitation in trying something different on my new projects. I’m very interactive with my fans, which you don’t see a lot when it comes to some other artists.

Who have you been listening to lately?

EVERYTHING. I’m always checking out new underground talent on SoundCloud and when people follow me I always see what they got for releases. I’m very open to many genres and listening to what other people create fascinates me

Who are your biggest influences?

One of my biggest influences musically was lil peep, I came across his music around the same time I started creating some of my own. Around 2016, I was stunned by how different his sound was. There were other wavy influences of mine, Bones.
$uicideboy$, Pouya, WiFi. Music is an amazing man

Tell us about your passions

Riding around with the homies, doing random shit. I love letting life flow, cuz in my mind I don’t really have the time to worry, life’s too short ya know. I may still be a kid but I recognize that time flies,
and you have to capture those moments.

What else is happening next in your world?

Other than working on music, my next priority is my job. I work at a restaurant in my town and it’s been my best one so far. Started out doing dishes 2 years ago and worked my way up to a line cook over the summer, life’s good. I’m hoping one day I won’t need to work a 9-5 though…

Thanks for an awesome interview, Michael
