Artist Interview: Deon Gladney

Tell us about yourself and your music

I was born and raised in Lansing, Michigan and graduated from the same high school as Magic Johnson. My grandfather was a Pastor and I fell in love with music just hearing him sing and coming from a musically inclined family, it just felt natural like I was born to sing. My music is a mirror image of what’s in my heart and on my mind.

Talk to us more about your latest release

My new single is entitled “At All” and I’m also preparing for my EP “The Love Junkie”.

What inspired you to write this release?

I was inspired by the nuances of love, relationships and actual things that happen in a persons life. I try to write realistic feelings and thoughts that everyone feels or can relate to.

Any plans to release a video?

Definitely plans to release 3 videos per project. Working on those currently.

Any plans to hit the road?

I have dates scheduled in Dallas, New York, Miami, and Toronto, Canada as well.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

Branding takes time so I’m utilizing every tool possible from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr, local radio, internet radio, blogs, etc. I’ll be doing live recorded performances to give fans and those who’ve never heard of me opportunity to be introduced to me and my music.
