Tell us about yourself and your music
I am a self-taught, singer/songwriter from Pennsylvania. Originally inspired by groups such as The Beatles & The Beach Boys. I play all my instruments on my songs, guitar, bass & vocals. I have also record & mix it as well. I have played all over Pennsylvania from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia in both original & cover bands, duos & solo. Music has been a life saving medium for me as well as my life’s passion. I have many songs featured on CD Baby. https://store.cdbaby.com/Artist/DanFinnegan
Talk to us more about your latest release
The 2 latest tunes I did were: ‘A Dangerous Love’ & ‘Bring Me Home’.
What inspired you to write this release?
‘A Dangerous Love’ was a tune that just started playing in my head one day. I don’t know why…but I’ve learned to just go and lay down the tracks when the inspiration comes. Sometimes it’s just crap, but sometimes it comes out ok. The other one, ‘Bring Me Home’ was playing in my head as I was waking up one morning. That’s happened to me several times actually. Usually, if I’ve been in writing mode, my subconscious mind will play stuff in my sleep. This was a simple, Beatlesque styled tune that reminds me of early McCartney…so I just went with it.
Any plans to release a video?
I haven’t done any videos to any songs yet. I don’t know why, but it’s something I’ve thought about. I have put some song on Youtube though. Actually, I think CD Baby may have done that.
Any plans to hit the road?
If I do go on the road, I’ll announce it on my website: https://danfinnegan.com/
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
I just try to be myself. Originality is usually better than competing. If you are original…you stand out & it’s honest.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Nobody in particular. I like listening to 50’s through 80’s music personally.
Tell us about your passions
Usually my kids.
What else is happening next in your world?
I’ve been doing a few duo gigs with my sister Margy. That’s always fun. She has a great voice!
Thanks for an awesome interview, Dan!
