Tell us about yourself and your music
I am Chef Mendeff, born and bred in south central Los Angeles. The prefix Chef in my name is directly as a result of me also being a professional Chef with one of the finest hospitality company in the world. I pride in making entertaining “Feel Good Music” infused with some education and information even if it is in a latent form at times. With time i have become comfortable with writing lyrics regarding several topics and subject so a Chef Mendeff project can range from conscious to abstracts to relationships to societal values.
Talk to us more about your latest release
I recently dropped 2 singles, the first being Trump Kush (produced by Zaytoven) which is a fun song where i take a stand of a conspiracy theorist insuniating that Trump has a customized and very potent strand of Kush he smokes every morning to make him say and act the way he does. The second track is called Pick Up Da Pieces (PUDP), this has a club vibe with catchy lyrics laced on a banging beat. Both tunes have been fan favorites as they continue to grow.
What inspired you to write this release?
Trump Kush was inspired by Trump’s pre-election rhetorics while Pick Up Da Pieces flows and lyrics was largely influenced by the catchy vibe on the beat. Trump Kush beat was specially tailored by Zaytoven while Pick Up Da Pieces beat was by Totz.
Any plans to release a video?
Trump Kusk has a video already, it is highly Hilarious. It goes play by play according to the lyrics. My latest video is for T.K.O ft Brian Cade, a track off my last “New Sheriff EP”. It is an eye-catcher and you should see it.
Any plans to hit the road?
shows and concert dates are in the works and the details are been finalized especially for the Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco areas.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
Being Indie can be tough but I make music from my heart, and except you have the same heart as me, my sound is always going to be uniquely different. When you hear a Chef Mendeff track, you kind of know it. I tend to touch on various issues and not be kept in a box. Like the saying goes “Variety is the spice of life”.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Tell us about your passions
Cooking is another passion of mine, and i do it professionally too. In general Striving to reach the next big goal always keeps me going. Whatever that goal might be.
What else is happening next in your world?
Am working on a follow up mixtape to “New Sherriff” for 2017. Expect fire. It should rock your world. Also stay tuned for a Chef Mendeff show coming to a venue near you.
