Artist Interview: BOLDER STEEL

Tell us about yourself and your music

My Name is Justin “BOLDER STEEL” Gant. I hail from Steel City USA, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I believe that I am definitely a talent to be reckoned with. I attended CAPA High School of the Performing Arts in Pittsburgh, PA. for 1 year before going on to graduate from fellow rap recording artist, Wiz Khlifa’s Alma mater Taylor Allderdice High School in 2003. I cite my older brother, Richard Diggs aka “Diggs”and his friends “D.O.G”, “HUSS BLUE”, and “B PORTER”, along with the rest of the “PARK LIFE CREW” as my main influences. I consistently fine-tuned my writing and rhyming skills over the years by battling other up and coming rap artist’s on the mean streets of Homewood, a inner city neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA.

After managing a night club called, “Grown n’ Sexy”, one of the most successful night clubs in Pittsburgh, PA. I was fortunate enough to make the acquaintance of Scott Briggs, owner of “OAG Management”, a Pittsburgh, PA based entertainment company. Myself and Scott went on to release a digital concept single entitled, “WEALTH”. Approximately one year after leaving “Grown n’ Sexy”, Me and my counterpart, “FAT BOY” decided to form our own label called, “Stack or Starve Empire”. Shortly after forming Stack or Starve Empire, I signed Exclusive Management Contracts with JiGANTiC Entertainment a multi-facet artist management company owned and operated by my multi-talented older brother, James CRUMMY Gant. Crummy’s first port of call was to release my highly anticipated second single, “SHE LIKEN IT”. She Liken It was released by JiGANTiC Entertainment and is currently available in more than 200 countries and has industry professionals standing up to take heed We recently released my third single cleverly entitled, “RECIPE”. Recipe is definitely a club banger that has the streets booming.

Coming from the mean streets of Pittsburgh, PA… I would have to say that my music definitely has a different sound than most other Rap or Hip-Hop artist in Pittsburgh. When creating a project I try my best to express originality. If I had to describe my style I guess I would say its
east coast with a down south sound.

Talk to us more about your latest release

My latest upcoming release will be a song off of my first official forthcoming mix tape entitled, “How We Roc’n”. While it’s virtually impossible to predict which songs will be a hit, I felt that this particular song was going to be a hit from the moment we recorded it. That’s why I named my forthcoming mix tape after the track, “How We Roc’n”. I feel like this track reveals a lot about me and explains where I’m trying to go in regards to my music and my life.

What inspired you to write this release?

I wrote “How We Roc’n” with the intention of creating a song that would explain a little about what’s it’s like to be a part of Stack or Starve. How we get down on a day to day basis. “I’m living like I’m Platinum, no matter what”.

Any plans to release a video?

Yes! Most definitely. I’m extremely excited about releasing a video for “How We Roc’n”, because it’s been a minute since we’ve released a music video. I’m anxious to see how I’ve progressed as an artist.

Any plans to hit the road?

Yes. We’re planning on going hard in 2018. As far as the specifics go… I’m currently not a liberty to discuss any details, but feel free to contact my manager, James CRUMMY Gant at JGant@JiGANTiCEntertainment.com

I’ve been listening to a lot of Money Bagg Yo, Gucci Mane, Yo Gotti, Money Man, NBA Young Boy, A-Boogie, and the Migoes to name a few.

Tell us about your passions

My biggest passion is my family. I’m really big on family. They are definitely what keeps me going. I know that it’s my job to make sure that they have more opportunities and live a better quality of life than I did growing up. Not that my childhood was the worst, because even though we were poor I was more fortunate than a lot of other children where I come from. My mother always kept us looking fly, even if we had to shop off of the clearance rack. Lol.

What else is happening next in your world?

I’m currently working on opening my first coffee shop/diner called “Ma’s Honey” located in Penn Hills, a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA. I consider this to be a major accomplishment of mine, because this can potentially open a lot of other doors for me and allow for me to pursue my music career on more of a professional level while financially providing for my family. Ultimately I would like to obtain a major distribution deal for my label, “Stack or Starve Empire”.

Thanks for an awesome interview, BOLDER!
