Artist Interview: Annachristie Sapphire
Tell us about yourself and your music
My music is a reflection of my spirit, free and complicated. I find it to be hard to stay in one place for too long, so I feel there is a sense of roaming in my songs. I enjoy details, so my songs are very descriptive in imagery. I want to bring the listener inside of my song if only for a moment.
Talk to us more about your latest release
I actually released my single “Bonsai” just a few days ago on November 9th! The song is meant to be a prayer or a wish to experience real love.
What inspired you to write this release?
A few things inspired me to write this song. Mainly a broken heart. But also sometimes a new instrument or new equipment will bring forth a song, in this case it was a vintage Sunn spring reverb mixer.
Describe the writing and recording process
The writing process of “Bonsai” was quite magical! It was written in a tiny cabin over looking Joshua Tree National Park.
I plugged into my vintage Sunn spring reverb mixer and the song just poured out of me in less then an hour! As if the song was already written! The Recording process took place over a year, so not quite as fast:) I got to work with Grammy award winning engineer Tim Sonnefeld! The two of us really experimented with the back up vocals, we wanted them to sound like a whale call. We also experimented with using reverb to bring the listener inside the “room” of the song during the chorus and then we would drob the reverb in beginning of the 2nd verse to change the setting.
Any plans to release a video?
Yes! I Have a video I will be releasing in the next two months! It is NOT RELEASED YET…and is only meant for private viewing at the moment. The password is “coyote” I am currently looking for someone to premier my video in early 2019.
Any plans to hit the road?
Yes! I will be hitting the road with the the release of my full length record in the spring!
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
After all these years of experience I have found that the best way to stand out is to just be who you are and not pretend to be anything else. In my case I am free spirit! That loves to find the humor in life! I’m a lover of Vintage things and I believe in magic.
And I brand myself that way.
Who have you been listening to lately?

What else is happening next in your world?
