Artist Interview: Ana Gazzola

Tell us about yourself and your music

I am a Brazilian singer/ songwriter. I have been living in Los Angeles for over 20 years but I go to Brazil every year to visit my family and reconnect with my roots.

Talk to us more about your latest release

My latest CD call “BRAZILIAN BLUES” It’s a collection of 12 songs. Few original compositions and some blues songs that I love. I included a few American Blues that are classics.

What inspired you to write this release?

This project started in 2016 when I performed at the Mississippi Delta Blues Festival in my hometown Caxias do Sul at the southernmost state of Brazil. It is the largest Blues Festival in South America. Yes, we love Blues down there.
I prepare a blues repertoire to perform at this amazing festival and the festival’s director gave me a nice spot. It was wonderful.
When I came back to LA, decided to transform my demo study into a real CD

Describe the writing and recording process

I recorded with my friend, pianist Pablo Medina in his home studio. (Pablo is a genius!!!)
We refined ideas inviting other musicians to be part of the project. I had the privilege to have a few of my favorite’s guitarist in the album like Celso Salim, Dino Durand, J.j. Brown, Angelo Metz, Fernando Aver, and the wonderful Marcele Berger in a special appearance on the Ukelele. Also playing harmonica Adrian Buono (from Los Pinguos), Heber Mor and Ron Kalina.
Mixed by Pablo Medina
Mastered by Ivan G Castro
English Coach by Carla Rigolin Hassett
Album Cover by S.J. Tadeu
Photo Cover by Alma Lopez
Makeup by Dany Amaral
Public Relations by Ady Daudt
Additional recording at Le Daros studios in Caxias do Sul.
I wrote two original’s Blues songs and chose 10 songs that I just love.
Total of 12 songs.
