Artist Interview: Absoloot
Tell us about yourself and your music
I’m an independent artist based out of South Florida and I focus on making clean and some times political hip-hop. I also create lyrical comic books for kids to read along with the songs. I currently have one comic book out entitled “American Soldier” and I’m finishing up my second one “Keep Dreaming”. My main goal as an artist is to impact my community in a positive way.
I’ve partnered with companies like Pepsi and Ventev mobile in the past to bring awareness to of the things our veterans are going through. I’m currently working with Life Sports Fitness and Pastor Davidson PMD Ministries on an anti-bullying campaign utilizing the comic “Keep Dreaming”. We have already began working with some great sponsors with Complete Music and events company and BEM Wireless.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My latest release “The Truth” is a political track address some of the issues our country is currently facing. I’m very excited about this release because this is the first song I’ve released with my brother “The Captain”. We felt it would be interesting to blend poetry and hip-hop on this particular track. I’ve always loved hearing poems over hip-hop beats so that makes this song one of my personal favorites.
What inspired you to write this release?
Both my brother and I were very inspired by the issues we’re all facing as a country. We seem to be more divided now than in recent memory. We felt there would be not better time than now to at least begin discussing some of theses issues with our fan base.
Any plans to release a video?
I’m focused on recording my fourth studio album along with the launch of our lyrical comic book Keep Dreaming. After I feel I’m in a good place with the recording process I’ll begin figuring out which tracks would be best to shoot videos for. We have such an amazing team down it really makes things like recording and creating videos very easy.
Any plans to hit the road?
One of my favorite things is getting out and performing the music we created. For me there’s nothing like getting a live reaction of the music at a show. The team and I are currently planning a tour throughout South Florida. I’ll keep everyone posted as soon as we have some dates.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
Well as an artist I take my brand very seriously. I look at other companies and artist that I admire and draw inspiration from them. I’ve found as an artist it’s best for me to keep things clean and build as many partnerships as possible. Over the years I found that a lot of companies aren’t willing to work with artist that portray negative images. So understanding how and why some of the largest companies in the world focus on keeping a clean image has definitely helped me keep things as clean as possible without diluting my message.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of instrumentals. I usually don’t listen to other artist when I’m in the recording process. Before I began recording I would listen to a lot of Royce Da 5’9, J Cole, and Empire of the Sun. I’m not a big fan of some of the newer hip hop artist.
Tell us about your passions
One of my favorite things other than music is creating stories for our comic books. I really love coming up with new characters and story lines. It’s like I can create a new world minus the things I don’t like about this one. (Laughs)
What else is happening next in your world?
Next thing I’m looking to do is help create a tour through the school system and begin working with some kids that love music and comic books as much as me.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Ramon!
