Tell us about yourself and your music
I was born and raised in Macon, Georgia. Macon, Georgia has a rich soul music and r&b music heritage, has been the springboard for such legends as Otis Redding, Randy Crawford, Little Richard, and James Brown. I began my interest in music as a little boy. My mother, my siblings and I would sing in different churches. My mother played the piano and that is where I was first introduced to sound and notes from instruments. As time passed, I helped start a six-piece Band in high school. We were named The Scorpion Band and we recorded a song in which I wrote the lyrics, called Keep On Trying. This title would prove to be my theme for life.
As years past, I played with many musicians and did a lot of studio work. I wanted so much that music would supply my sole need for money so that I could afford to show to the world what I saw and heard in my imagination. I have never been able to afford to produce all of the sounds that I imagine happening all at once.
In 1985 I was working on a commercial for a local business, as the writer. I had already pre-paid the studio for a time, but none of the musicians showed up. This is when I used the time to create my song TEACHER, where I sang and played all the parts. Teacher has been my most successful recording and in 2017, a re-issue of Teacher reached #1 on charts in the UK. I have recorded hundreds of songs that no one has ever heard. It is possible for twins to sing the same and write the same, yet one may find great success and the other may not. This is how I feel about the similarity of my musical abilities to Prince, yet life pointed differently in destiny.
I do appreciate God tremendously for the musical creativity that he gave me. Music has been my life long best friend, always there to make me feel joy. It was wanting to know more about the music business that propelled me to law school and becoming an Attorney. I have tons of music online. My latest music is a collaboration with the great musicians Pete Miller, Jr, Dr. Joseph A Singleton, Eric Meredith, and Simon Cullens. We call ourselves Ace Miller and Renaissance 2030. The name of Our 2019 CD is entitled Crazy For You. It can be ordered at cdbaby.com and other retail outlets. Our music carries a flavor of Prince and Earth, Wind and Fire. The Great Renaissance Period has now reappeared.

What inspired you to write this release?
Love. Love is the energy that turns the world and the inspiration for tomorrow.
Describe the writing and recording process
I just think of situations and subjects and music just comes to me naturally. God gave me the ability to write lyrics and music non-stop. I count it as a blessing to be able to create music, as a doctor would prescribe medicine, as a cure for what hurts.
Any plans to hit the road?
We are presently booking and scheduling concerts for Spring 2020. Bookings can be initiated through leroyacemiller@aol.com
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
My music comes from what God allows the universe to give to me. The sound is more of relation with what people think about and what people need. The music by Ace Miller and Renaissance 2030 reflects r&b a lot, with a pinch of rock and jazz.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Recently, I have been listening to a lot of John Legend, Bruno Mars, Prince and Earth, Wind and Fire.
Who are your biggest influences?
- Mother and Father
- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
- Prince
- Stevie Wonder
- Earth, Wind and Fire
- John Legend
- Carol King
Tell us about your passions
I love people, all people. I am always conscious of the impact that adults have on youth. I understand that when we are young, we enjoy youthful thoughts and youthful norms. I feel that the music of artists should grow in substance like plants grow to bear fruits.
What else is happening next in your world?
Writing music for the pleasure of the world’s enjoyment is mostly all I think about. Music is the medicine that heals.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Ace Miller and Renaissance 2030
