The wait is nearly over for Bruce Springsteen fans, as the popular New Jersey phenomenon is preparing to release his 17th studio album on March 5. The first record since the passing of saxophonist Clarence Clemons, Wrecking Ball will feature 11 new tracks from Bruce and the E Street Band, signaling their first album since 2010’s The Promise.
Wrecking Ball’s first single, “We Take Care of Our Own” debuted on January 19 via Springsteen’s official website, giving rock n’ roll lovers a taste of the latest material. Produced in collaboration with multi-platinum hit maker Ron Aniello, the record contains some surprising musical experimentation with loops and electronic percussion while remaining true to the songwriter fans have come to love.
"The lyrics tell a story you can't hear anywhere else, and the music is his most innovative of recent years ... The writing is some of the best of his career," said Springsteen’s manager Jon Landau.
The record also features some surprise performances from Rage Against the Machine’s guitarist Tom Morello and drummer Matt Chamberlain, formerly of Pearl Jam. Springsteen and the E Street Band are planning a lengthy US tour in support of the new album, but fans are still eagerly awaiting dates.
