UK Soul heavyweight, Steve Nichol returns with a NEW solo project.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
London — April 1, 2018 — Loose Ends, the original champions of the British funk and soul scene in the 1980s, have been silent for almost 30 years. However, the lead composer of their material has returned; Steve Nichol is set to embark on his first solo project and marked the start of this return with the release of his debut single Dangerous Romance, released on March 2nd.
At the mere age of 16, Nichol won the coveted Young Musician of the Year after completing his classical musician training at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. From then, he began his career touring as a session musician with iconic UK band The Jam. Later in the 80’s he went on to form his record-setting band, Loose Ends, who achieved their first success with Nichol’s tune ‘Hangin’ On A String (Contemplating)’, reaching no.13 in the UK Chart whilst simultaneously becoming the first ever British No.1 on the US R&B Billboard Chart, knocking Prince from that no.1 spot.
His debut solo release, Dangerous Romance features an array of established musicians – composed and produced by Soulpersona and co-written with Ellene Masri, featuring the latter as a soulful vocalist, floating her voice over the top of Punk Pappa’s punching bassline. The song still draws influence from artists such as Stevie Wonder and Brenda Russell, legendary and timeless artists who inspired Nichol when writing for Loose Ends.
Having originally been signed and releasing music through Virgin Records, Steve Nichol’s first release as a solo artist will be released through SO-UK: Music, and is currently available on Spotify, Bandcamp and all other digital stores.
