New Album A Collaboration Between Macklin And Unsigned Indie Artists
Dallas, Texas, United States of America – May 12th, 2014 – Ty Macklin is a multi-platinum Grammy award winning producer and songwriter already — but he’s not about to rest on his laurels. Nothing could be further from the truth, in fact.
Macklin has been on the music scene since 1998 when he worked with Erykah Badu on her acclaimed Baduizm album, and has since worked with other notable soul artists, including Sandra St. Victor, N’dambi, Sy Smith, India.Arie, Carmen Rodger, Deborah Jordan and Noel Gourdin.
Although Macklin’s work is primarily behind the scenes as a producer, he can sometimes be found on stage as rapper XL7, and in the 90s as a part of rap outfits Decadent Dub Team and Shabazz 3. These days, though, he’s happy to let others take center stage and provide the music.
Macklin’s current release is Eleven Squared Vol. 1, a RnB/Hip-Hop compilation album, focusing on unsigned indie artists who Macklin has produced music for. Macklin is clear on why he has gone down this route. “It’s basically a project that centralizes my production, recording and mixing skills. The songs I’ve produced over the years are scattered on different projects, so I decided to release a project that not only showcased my talents, but the talents of others, as well.”
The album itself is firmly entrenched in RnB/Hip-Hop, with a strong soul influence — the kind of sound that has made Macklin such a successful behind-the-scenes producer in the first place.
Eleven Squared Vol. 1, released in April 2014, can be bought from iTunes for $9.99.
