The Morris brothers started The Mobros in 2008. Kelly and Patrick are half Trinidadian, helping their music drift between soul, blues progression, funk, and rockabilly; the calypso and island rhythms pass in and out of their music. Since 2008, they have been developing and practicing their sound, and mastering their technique.
“After we figured out our “Mobros sound, we took time to produce and record our first music video (see Youtube: the Mobros – I Lost MySelf). The band originally started out as a duo in 2008, and in 2009, “we played for kids at the Camden library, coffeehouses and music venues in Columbia & performed at our high school (Cardinal Newman) talent show (see you tube: The Mobros – “My Baby Walked Out). In 2010, Kelly enrolled in the University Of South Carolina School of Music, where he met Zack Slaughter (Zee), a talented jazz musician. Zee brought another flavor and style to the music. They were the youngest band to play Carolina Down Home Blues Festival 2010, and Columbia’s 17th Annual Blues Festival 2011. They have also played in the Columbia Home Grown Music Festival 2011, 30th Annual St. Pat’s in 5 points Columbia S.C. 2011 and smaller venues & shows throughout the Midlands and coastal South Carolina. Through Youtube, the medium of newspaper, magazine and radio, The Mobros have and continue to gain fans of all ages. The Mobros are a soul-filled funky blues trio, with latin roots, and a touch of jazz. Read press to get other viewpoints on THE MOBROS!
