LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS – Interstate Buffalo
“One Step Away
Catalog Number: RN161495
**For Immediate Release**
Little Rock’s own, Interstate Buffalo, is proud to announce the release of their first full length album “One Step Away out on June 19th, 2012.
Known for their hard hitting sound and virtuosic style – Interstate Buffalo has been dubbed “a Southern Rock and Blues Monster. Fronted by West Memphis native, Jack Poff (rhythm guitar and lead vocals) and supported by local guitar instructor Stephen Compton, bassist Chris “Scooter Chandler and drummer Nick Reeves, Interstate Buffalo is fast becoming one of central Arkansas most recognized bands.
A recent review from MuzikReviews.com says it all: “Interstate Buffalo conjures images of powerful stampeding animals across the highways of America. If there was one way to explain what this band sounds like…well let’s just say they did well by choosing such a name. Their music is a mirror image of their name, it comes at your hard and fast with plenty of high powered engines and some fuel left in the reserve tank. If you like blues and rock and some funk thrown in for good measure, this band will turn the lights on.
For their first album, the band wanted to capture what its sounds like to live in Arkansas. To help capture that sound, they recorded “One Step Away with local well known recording engineer Jason Tedford at Wolfman Studios (www.wolfmanstudios.com). The albums first track “Down in a Bad Way, sets the tone with its growling slide guitar intro and pounding beat. Then comes the harmonica infused sound of “Harp On which is loosely based on the southern classic “To Kill a Mockingbird, followed by the rock-a-billy inspired song “Waitin Blues.
“When you grow up in between Little Rock, Memphis and Dallas, you’re hit with so many different forms of music, say’s lead singer Jack Poff, “Country, Rock, Blues, Funk….it all blends together. I think we pulled from all these sources in making this album. That’s why it speaks to us.
Other highlights include the funky beats of “Camera, the Charleston style groove of “Safety Net, and the country rock feel of “#57.
To promote the album, Interstate Buffalo will have a CD Release Party on Saturday June 23rd at the Afterthought Bar in Little Rock AR. The band has also scheduled dates around the region which will see them sharing the stage with other local favorites such as Tyrannosaurus Chicken and Jimbo Mathus to name a few.
