Scandinavian Experimental Folk Band Cecilie Beck & The Elements Set to Perform at The Bitter End
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New York, New York — April 14, 2016 — Cecilie Beck & The Elements will be taking over The Bitter End on April 29. They experimental folk band will be performing the latest from their debut, Here is Now for those who head out to the show.
Beck, a musician for years, knew she needed something to accompany her sounds and visuals in performances. That’s when the idea to form The Elements was born. She took the lead on vocals and piano, and gathered a cascade of talented musicians to round things out. Onur Gül holds things down on the bass, Elder Merchant takes care of the percussion on drums, Grace Hong adds layers with her violin, and Alonzo Felix backs Beck on vocals while handling the guitar. Together they not only deliver songs that describe a convergence of natural elements with urban wisdom, but also draw strong references to the rhythms and patterns of nature’s elements.
They will bring all of that and more to The Bitter End. It’s one of the Big Apple’s oldest venues that has housed performances by everyone from Patti Smith to Bob Dylan to Lady Gaga. Now Cecilie Beck & The Elements will be added to the list come the end of the month. Here is Now empowers a social consciousness, and those in the audience will be able to hear and see that when the band takes the stage. Beck’s performances have been seen and heard around the city before, jazz musician Henry Threadgill has noted of her, “”Beck possesses a delicate voice with a lilting quality that is a combination of beguiling and femme fatale without the dagger; more akin to silken veils blowing in a gentle breeze…in the moonlight
