Backwater Deliver ‘The Unholy’ Spirit
Swedish Rockers’ New Album Brings It Hard
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Göteborg, Sweden – April 1, 2016 – Like most kids in the 90’s, the foundation of Backwater came from a love of what was coming out of the Seattle grunge scene. When Björn Wennerborg and the rest of the band’s taste in music changed, they switched gears. Years later members have come and gone, and the sound has shifted like a glacier to a more alternative rock meets metal plain with Thomas Kihlberg coming in and taking his fair share of the songwriting and lead vocals, Backwater transformed into what you hear today. Now the band is back with their sophomore release, The Unholy, and it showcasing that rock is still alive and well.
“In the past, a couple of attempts were made to get this album done. Even though Backwater were surrounded by talented people it just didn’t feel right. When there is a clear vision you need to follow it, even if it means doing it on your own,” says Wennerborg. Now that the stars have finally aligned, the album is out and the band is ready to get out on the road and share it with audiences near and far. Whether it’s the pulsating opening track “Fog,” the heartfelt “Unknown,” or their lead single “Distance,” fans of Godsmack and Sevendust are going to want to take notice.
Backwater have played Metal Town Festival twice before and have a couple of local shows coming up, but they are looking to add more to their plate. As The Unholy is still fresh and new, and it’s ready to be unleashed.
