Background

Background

Jaiz is an artist who has had music in his blood since a very young age. His idol and inspiration growing up was his late brother Douglas. Douglas was a poet, artist, and a singer/songwriter. Following in his brother’s footsteps, Jaiz began his artistic journey with writing poetry. Poetry naturally manifested into writing song lyrics. His music is a mixture of many elements of artistry. The artistic focus is on depth, meaning, versatility, creativity, raw passion, emotion, personal life experiences, story writing, and conscious efforts of addressing real life issues affecting people every day. Jaiz is a hip-hop/rap artist at heart, but also likes to mix it up with the genres of comedy, pop, rock, and dance music. The goal of his music is to invoke emotion from his listeners. Emotions such as laughter, joy, sadness, or whatever the mind and heart chooses to feel. His music is organic and real rather than manufactured. Jaiz is always looking for new ways to expand his creativity and versatility. This has led him to vocal production, designing his own album covers, artist photos and merchandise, video editing and music videos, acting, directing, online marketing, and website creation. Jaiz lives to create and strives to live out his undying passion for his craft.

My Victory (Feat. Anna) by Jaiz

[Chorus]
I remember times when I never shined
It was so hard to believe
I didn't wanna be lost in life
I came out from underneath
I felt the weight of the world
Crashing down on me
But now I'm looking out
And it's my victory

[Verse 1]
Lost is a word that would describe myself
Throughout these years I've struggled with my self-identity trying to find myself
And to this day I still can't say I have
But what I found is your grasp, the warmth of your hands
Warming up a soul so frozen from the frigid cold
You have opened up these inner walls that have been closed
For so very long, always having negative thoughts
I'd never do the things that I've done with you, so empty and lost
I still struggle with these feelings to this day
But you have shown me that concealing my potential's not the way
To live my life, and to reach higher than I think I can
Nobody's influenced my life quite like you have
To make me have the progress that I never thought I'd see
I'm not a spiritual man, but you're the angel in me
And even if you leave my life entirely one day
I'll never forget what you mean to me, you'll always have a place
Inside my heart

[Chorus]
I remember times when I never shined
It was so hard to believe
I didn't wanna be lost in life
I came out from underneath
I felt the weight of the world
Crashing down on me
But now I'm looking out
And it's my victory

[Verse 2]
Can't say I'll ever overcome all my demons
But with you by my side some of my hopes and dreams
That seemed I'd never see seems so much more realistic
I love how in your eyes I am so idealistic
Cause honestly you make me better than I really am
You have taken a little boy now helping him grow to be a man
It's not so easy cause you know how stubborn I can be
Most of this progress that you see is because of your love for me
And I've never had this comfort level with another soul
Not a family member, any ex, or any friend so
All the words in the world really just can't describe
Your significance inside my book of life, a chapter that makes me thrive
A torch that guides me through this universe of darkness
I knew I had this inner flame you teach me how to spark it
I know I'm gonna fall time and time again
But it's your strong faith in me that activates my inner strength

[Chorus]
I remember times when I never shined
It was so hard to believe
I didn't wanna be lost in life
I came out from underneath
I felt the weight of the world
Crashing down on me
But now I'm looking out
And it's my victory

[Verse 3]
It's been a long road a long journey
It's been so hard to open up my heart when there's so many that have hurt me
And I've screamed my cries in life only a select few heard me
But even all of them have scarred me one way or another leaving
me hurting
So please forgive me if I hurt you with my ways
I'm still a stubborn person so sometimes I push away
Cause it's hard for me to believe that I could really change
But the fact is I have, and you're the one to thank
I'm a long way from fully changed, but you still believe
Even when I don't have it within to believe in me
I won't make promises of what tomorrow has in store for you and I
But my promise to you is I will try
My best to be the person that you have the faith I can be
Despite my insecurities some days I say I don't have it in me
I thought I lost in life, but I've already won
Cause of you I'm more than I thought I'd ever be and that's why I love you

[Chorus]
I remember times when I never shined
It was so hard to believe
I didn't wanna be lost in life
I came out from underneath
I felt the weight of the world
Crashing down on me
But now I'm looking out
And it's my victory
