Stretch Boogs is a North American Hip Hop recording artist/writer/producer from West Virginia, independently operating under Kanaka Music. Stretch Boogs first appeared on Tazmaniac Records’ well-received 2000 release Let It Be Taught. In 2004, Stretch Boogs would then form his own group, KANAKA, with Travis “Tre” Adams, Shawn “N.E.O.” Clark, Traci Fisher & ToiKeira. A debilitating addiction to drugs and alcohol would cause personal tension and creative differences, and consequently prevent KANAKA’s debut album, Bargantuan, from ever seeing the light of day. Virutally unknown and unheard, Stretch Boogs would continue his pursuit of songwriting, performing, producing and honing his craft. The year 2010 would mark the beginning of a rebirth at Kanaka Music. Stretch would recruit a few younger artists from his hometown of Logan, West Virginia, including Gunna, Gutta Ghost and Flawless. Under the moniker/alter-ego of Nappy Skilmore, the streets would see three releases from Stretch Boogs, the mixtapes Everything Under The Sun, It Is A Mixtape But It’s Really an EP, and the full-length LP Pain & Passion. A few local and regional hits were spawned by these releases, including “Maniac Symphony” with the original members of KANAKA, “Against The Grain”, with a newly formed KANAKA, “Big Girls”, “Blood & Wine”, “Slippin'”, the latter two singles being produced by Jomeezius The Genius. With 2012’s release of KANAKA’s mixtape Recess Iz Over, Kanaka Music started gaining momentum in the regional underground circuits of Hip Hop. Kanaka Music would unveil its first commercial offering, Nappy Skilmore’s Delirium, in 2014, which brought singles “Bam Bam” “Doonie” and “Uma Thurman”. Eyes on the expansion of his repertoire, Stretch Boogs has connected with rising producers Cali G, Epik The Dawn, Tone Jonez and Curtiss King, for his latest opus, Famine, slated for release late summer 2016. Anticipation for the commercial release of Famine is increasing due to the most recent singles “Insatiable” feat. ToiKeira and “Oak(Just Might)”, that were distributed by Sweden’s Record Union. The LP Famine will not only showcase Stretch Boogs’ own production prowess, but will also introduce poetess extraordinaire Tanisha Campbell from southern California and re-introduce original KANAKA artists ToiKeira and H3adPhon3z, both producers of Huntington, WV. Currently joining forces with independent juggernauts Coast2Coast and thebeatswarehouse.com, Stretch Boogs’ brand of no-compromise originality with the art of expression and lyricism will be on full display in many years to come.
