Artist Interview: Tommy Osiris
Tell us about yourself and your music
I grew up in Detroit, MI and moved to Los Angeles at 16. I’m almost 20 now and my music is a blend of nostalgia and modern appeal I call this being “Nostalgically Ahead of Time” or “Tomorrow’s Nostalgia”. I’m still finding my sound but it’s going in the direction of vast imagery filled wordplay, sharp lyricism, and vintage beats.
Talk to us more about your latest release
I’ll be releasing a 5-8 track mixtape called “No Sealing” in February where I rap over (my selection) the hottest/most liked beats of 2016…similar to Lil Wayne’s “No Ceilings” approach.[/gravityforms]
What inspired you to write this release?
I can’t say anything inspired me or turned the lightbulb on…but when I heard the OSYM produced beat I knew I had to create a hit.
Any plans to release a video?
$wank Papi (Official Music Video) on YouTube now!
Any plans to hit the road?
Yes ! I’ll be opening up for the first show on the Young And Free Tour on Thursday February 2nd! In Orange County, Cali.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
I create my own lane that I can forever live off of, to be successful you only prosper off originality and the rebranding of the the grounds you started on. With that being mentioned, I cant focus on another’s route only direction is to pave my own.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Vintage Lil Wayne, Erykah Badu, Vince Staples, 21 Savage, to name a few.
Tell us about your passions
“When I was 14 I told my ma we gone see better days…and sure enough I did exactly what I said” – Lil Wayne 3Peat
What else is happening next in your world?
$wank Papi music video is on YouTube, opening up for a tour on February 2nd, and I have the sequel music video to $wank Papi in the works.
