Artist Interview: The ANThem
Tell us about yourself and your music
I am The ANThem! From Atlanta, GA!! I like to think of my music as gangster or trap music but I think it has a bit of a soul to it! Some lessons and free game along the way! I’m trying to bring back those cautionary tales…gritty stories but are told to deter others from making the same mistakes!! I don’t think gangster music these days is conscious of how it impacts youth and I would like to bring a little of that consciousness back. Southern style
Talk to us more about your latest release
Cotton Fields is my latest release! I just release it on June 9th on iTunes and datpiff!! It’s a few more songs if you stream it through iTunes! I think it is a journey through the south…across the trap and through how I view it all!! With production from some crazy unsigned producers I think it’s a great project to ride to and learn a few things from!
What inspired you to write this release?
My love for trees…weed…green inspired me to write this one! I love my meds so I have to dedicate some songs to it! Lol!!
Any plans to release a video?
Definitely! Visuals for 66 jarz and Carrollton Confidential coming in August
Any plans to hit the road?
No plans to tour now…but that could change in the near future…
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
I’m just not trying to sound like anybody else! I have my own flow that I crafted as a combination of my favorite artists! A little Kurupt…a little Curren$y…a little Ludacris…a little Biggie! All older artist updated with my own twist!
Who have you been listening to lately?
I really like Curren$y…I like Kodak Black’s 1st Day Out song…I also like Jay-Z’s new 4:44 it’s a classic!!
Tell us about your passions
I love art! I like sketching and drawing!! I also LOVE movies….All kinds most genres!! Old and new!! Love movies!!
What else is happening next in your world?
Music…music…MUSIC!! I wanna put out more and more music and visuals to show everybody I’m the best you haven’t heard yet….but you will
