Artist Interview: Thaiga Hood and Mos Faded Drops
Tell us about yourself and your music
Myself (Thaiga Hood) aka Lil Spankie bka Flacko was born Oct. 21, 1981 raised in Beaufort, SC. Mos Faded Drops was born Oct. 28, on the West Coast in Anaheim, California, but now resides in Beaufort, SC. Being that we from the hometown of American Idol Winner Candace Glover. Even after already full of ambition and the drive of a artist. Addicted to the love of creating meaningful expressions to a rhythm. She gave us reassurance and faith to pursue our goals making it reality. We as artists like Mos Faded Drops and myself (Thaiga Hood) strive with a passion of acheiving the impossible and rare opportunities given to very few people.
Talk to us more about your latest release
We just released the first track “Insomnia” which is off our upcoming Transition Mixtape set to be released in late March of 2017. I, Thaiga Hood also released my New Single “No Filter” which is off my “Truth Behind The Lies” Mixtape set to be released in the Late Summer of 2017. Mos Faded Drops is also set to release his F.U.I. Mixtape in the Fall of 2017.
What inspired you to write this release?
For our collaboration on our Transition Mixtape, we focus on growth and stepping out the box. This Transition Mixtape is about showing our artistry. Merging with different genres making creative relatable music the audience can vibe to.
Any plans to release a video?
We just released our video “Still In Da Trizzap” feat. Mos Faded Drops, which is off my (Thaiga Hood) latest Mixtape “Trapology 101”. As of right now we are planning to shoot our next video “Go Diego” (Backpack) which is also off my Trapology 101 Mixtape.
Any plans to hit the road?
We have a few upcoming shows, one will be at Pyramids Lounge in Atlanta, GA on Feb. 19, 2017. We also have TBA shows being negotiated for March through August of 2017.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
As indie artists we are from multiple backgrounds and cultures. We have the diversity, the distinctive voices, and a standout attraction that could be easy on the eyes to the audience. Every song we make we strive to be different, unique, and in our own lane persona as Indie Artists.
Who have you been listening to lately?
We always listen to 2Pac, Biggie, Outkast, T.I., Yo Gotti, Jadakiss, Scarface, and many other artists. Lately I’ve been listening to Underground/Indie Artists like Young DA, Doe Boogie, Jusryte, NSG, Jiggz, Legion Carolina, Waata Boi, Hoss Brown, Lania J, Rof Less, and many more across the world. These artists influenced us to grow from not being just a rapper, but being a one of a kind type of artist with no boundaries.
Tell us about your passions
Our kids give us peace and reason to live everyday with or without the music. Being able to wake up and live another day has always been enough and worth us getting out our beds.
What else is happening next in your world?
As of right now we are getting our independent label S.P.L.A. Music Group officially a legitimate business and brand that represents all up coming local artists across the world.
