Artist Interview: Steve Hester
Tell us about yourself and your music
I am 57 years old and have been singing since I was 6 and playing since I was 9. I traveled the USA in 78,79,80 and 81 as a professional musician performing 5-7 nights a week. In 1982 my daughter was born followed by 2 brothers and I took the next 19 years off to raise my kids and build a business. In 2001 I started back performing and writing. I have performed with B B King, Johnny Winter, Eric Gales, Tony Joe White, Black Oak Arkansas, Anthony Gomes, Devin Allman and Skynyrd to name a few.
My music is a culmination of Country, Blues and Southern Rock with a hint of Old Gospel thrown in.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My latest release will be several older tunes of mine such as Redneck song and a couple of new ones like My Daddy’s Son and A Good Girl Can’t Resist a Bad Boy (That’s a Good Good Man). Coming out in 2017 along with a couple of Johnny Cash covers done my way.
What inspired you to write this release?
Love of all music and the times that we are living in.
Any plans to release a video?
I do plan to release a video in the near future, probably of Waterside.
Any plans to hit the road?
Performing on the road is always there in my thoughts but only if the pay is worthwhile.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
I’m not sold out to any one Genre or Label so I’m free to do as I like. I am on several social media sites.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Ray Wiley Hubbard, Billy Jo Shafer and other Outlaw Country artists.
Tell us about your passions
Hunting, Fishing and Jesus!
What else is happening next in your world?
Married to the love of my life Marianne (prettiest Girl I ever met) and spending time with my kids and grandkids.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Steve!
