Artist Interview: Nova/ Truth camp
Tell us about yourself and your music
I’m from California and my partner is from New York. We currently live in Montana and we wanna make music that makes people think. We don’t like new era rap and we aspire to make music with a meaning.
What inspired you to write this release?
The movie dope was a big inspiration. That’s not my newest release but my newest one on SoundCloud. My newest release is on YouTube under the name Truth camp. There is where you can find my newest albums Broke and Kill the smile.
Any plans to release a video?
Yes very soon I’m releasing a new album in a month or two and plan to make videos for almost every song on the album so people see my idea mad concept more.
Any plans to hit the road?
Me and my group Truth camp plan to have our first concert together at the start of summer on June third in our home town here in montana. I plan to do solo concerts in colorado in Loveland and Denver. We are currently saving money to go to New York and California to have concerts as well.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
It’s unique in the sense that I have my own custom flow and lyrics. I use inspiration from the earlier days of rap mixed with some modern touches. I’m not rapping about girls or drugs or the streets. I’m rapping about life and my personal experiences
Who have you been listening to lately?
Logic, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, N.W.A, Tupac, Lil Dicky.
Tell us about your passions
I love playing football and mma. Another thing is I love working out and being in shape. I also enjoy reading comics and books. I like to watch moviesome and play video games as well. But when I’m not writing music I’m typically being creative still by writing out movies or designing custom shoes or clothes.
What else is happening next in your world?
I plan on releasing album after album and going on tour until I get signed even if it’s by a small company. I plan on starting a partnership with and independent clothing company. They agreed to make a clothing line for me if I promote them at my concerts.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Tysen!
