Artist Interview: Monty
Tell us about yourself and your music
I am a singer/songwriter born in Chattagram, Bangladesh. The cultural and language differences didn’t stop me from making Western music or remaining detached from any genre of music.
My musical style is mostly influenced by Queen, Led Zeppelin, Panic! At the Disco, Shawn Mendes, Michael Jackson, Akon, Imagine Dragons and Linkin Park. But, I am mostly influenced by them, but If I just start talking about influences they’re gonna carry on forever.
I think that’s why I can slide into any genre and it’d be even very difficult for me to put myself into a thick position where I can only write one type of songs.
Talk to us more about your latest release
I’m working on an EP, I think I need a bit of time to complete it as I can’t purge it all at once. I have written a lot of songs so it’s gonna take us some time even to select the best songs out of them.
So just stay tuned, you’ll catch up or maybe I will.
What inspired you to write this release?
You know it may seem ethereal when I tell you this but, sometimes you get an inner calling where the devil inside you drives you to the end until you start doing what it wants and hopefully do it.
I think that has a lot to do for me to even start making music.
Any plans to release a video?
Yes, of course I given time and support.
Any plans to hit the road?
Well, not too soon now. Let me get done with the EP first.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
Personally, I think I am capable of writing something big always. Because, if either it is good when I’m writing it I’ll get to go till the end of it and if it’s not I can never finish it so, it’s pretty obvious.
But, being yourself and writing what comes truly out of you is what really matters and I think I’m doing it and that will always make me different and as to everyone who does the same.
Who have you been listening to lately?
I’ve been listening to Shawn Mendes too much lately, I play his whole album on repeat until I get tired. It is literally so good, I think it’s gonna win grammies this year.
But, beside him, I’ve been listening to John Mayer, Brendon Urie, Queen, Greta Van Fleet, Sia and Linkin Park.
What else is happening next in your world?
I only feel music is happening next all over in my world.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Sadman Yasir!
