Artist Interview: MattyZ
Tell us about yourself and your music
I am an 18 year old high school student who has always had a love for music. Until recently I was just songwriting and making them into little EP possibilities. My music is motivated towards helping others and relating to their struggles and trying to help them get through it, and know they are not alone in this world. My music is geared toward people who are going through personal issues and to help them also in some of my other music which is upbeat and really hype.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My “latest” release is a song that was about a girl who hurt me, however I am going to be coming out with a new song tomorrow (2/1/2017) and it will be one of the hype and uplifting songs.
What inspired you to write this release?
What inspired me to write it was the feelings that I was having at the time and it was best to describe by writing and posting it because it shows people can make bangers and also be a deep person when it comes time to be one.
Any plans to release a video?
I sometimes will post a video of just my face when I’m rapping like a live video. So I don’t have any official music videos out yet nor am I planning any yet because I don’t have any professional equipment necessary for it.
Any plans to hit the road?
I do not yet but I’m hoping to soon once I get a little bigger.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
I would brand my myself and my music as a more happy upbeat rapper who likes to do different styles and help people get motivated as well as staying alive and getting happiness!
Who have you been listening to lately?
A lot of Sir Skitzo and some of Sayer Mowat as well as G-Eazy and Kid Cudi
Tell us about your passions
Besides music, I also have golf to keep me getting out of bed every morning.
What else is happening next in your world?
I’m going through some golf tournaments and going to see a different college for golf, but I’m hoping to get big in music beforehand.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Matt!
