Artist Interview: Litterbug

Tell us about yourself and your music

I’ve written and constructed about 50 songs over the last decade. Most are based on real life and social observation. They have a smattering of humour with underlying message. Other songs come from dreams and can be quite non sensical.
I’m an introvert at heart and it’s easy to protract yourself, but it’s needs be to unleash inner frustrations or anger.

Talk to us more about your latest release

Your Perception is Not My Reality is the title of our album . On vinyl and cd from bandcamp, or soft copies at iTunes,Deezer and Spotify.
The title represents the continual judgments made by people about others on a daily basis , based on what are often the most shallow of circumstances.
We’ve shifted several hundred CDs and vinyl is going far better than we expected.

What inspired you to write this release?

Most of the 17 tracks were written over an 18 month period, whilst the rest were retrospective.
The songs go from painful relationships to justifying your existence or actions to mental health and peanut allergy issues, and back again.

Any plans to release a video?

We make our own diy videos. They are thoughtful and low budget. Not but low budget ..,

Any plans to hit the road?

We have been playing around the uk this last year. Based on the coast in Blackpool, it’s a bit of a trek.
We play Manchester, Liverpool, Preston, Lancaster and Blackpool.
Further a field , Leeds, Newcastle, London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Then there is German and Swedish dates lined up too.
All through networking and diy experiences.
We will play a couple of punk festivals this Summer also, including Rebellion, here in Blackpool.

As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?

We can only do what’s available with the usual social media sites.
We aren’t trying to be anything special or promote ourselves as superior in anyway.
We are not desperate. If the songs resonate with you, great, if they do nothing for you, we all move on. No problem.

Who have you been listening to lately?

Granddaddy, Weezer, Pixies, Ramones, Buzzcocks, Cyanide Pills

Tell us about your passions

I like to keep fit. Not very rock n roll, but it’s the best way to deal with anxiety or depression. I’ve always tried to keep healthy. Had asthma issues since childhood.
Movies are great and in particular the cinematic experience

What else is happening next in your world?

Just music music music at the moment, but hopefully that involves travel too

Thanks for an awesome interview, Stuart!
