Artist Interview: Joshua Earth
Tell us about yourself and your music
I am born and raised as a Canadian. I have spent much time in the Caribbean and became a devout reggae fan. Music for me started with Blues/Folk and Rock and I became attracted to Reggae and World Beat in my early twenties. The music I write is a blend of all these influences and life’s experiences.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My latest release on SoundCloud in a Sind called “Don’t Cry”. It’s a song about being strong in a world of fear and conflict. It suggests peace rather than war.
What inspired you to write this release?
The current world situation. The youth who have to grow up with this spiritual/physical war. My Jewish roots. Those who think it’s ok to kill in the name of God.
Any plans to release a video?
I would love to but currently don’t have any means of doing that. This recording was funded through a work trade.
Any plans to hit the road?
No plans at the moment. I’m currently a percussionist in a local funk band. I occasionally gig with a reggae band and this tune gets a good vibe from the crowd! I’m balancing a few things right now so being a side man is simple for my life at the moment. I often have thoughts of hitting the road acoustically! Ya never know what 2017 will bring!
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
Just being yourself is your brand
Who have you been listening to lately?
Dereck Trucks and Susan Tedeschi.
Tell us about your passions
Hanging with my kids or girlfriend
I’m also a photographer
What else is happening next in your world?
Photography is picking up
I’m trying to put together a blues project which will benefit my original sound
Thanks for an awesome interview, Joshua!
