Artist Interview: Greg Gomes
Tell us about yourself and your music
I started taking guitar lessons at about age 12. When a junior high buddy showed me his father’s guitar I knew I had to start playing. The same friend recommended some bands and tapes to check out. Heavy metal was big at the time and I started collecting albums. Then I went and studied the roots of rock from the late 60’s. When I was 21 I fully discovered my singing voice and started my song-writing journey. I decided to write music to connect with people and give back and inspire people like it did for me when I was a kid.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My latest Album “Born To Win” has been in the works for a year now. My previous album “Above The Clouds” was singer/songwriter type with a few rockers. The “Born To Win” Album is a return to a full band with the title track as a stadium rocker and also a 7 minute opus “Give Me Peace”. Both albums can be previewed on my Sound Cloud page.
What inspired you to write this release?
The tracks off the album are all reflective of the times I was going through. Each song is a chapter.
Any plans to release a video?
I have a great idea for the “Born To Win” Video. It wold take some financing and coordinating but I’m hopeful to make it soon.
Any plans to hit the road?
I’d love to hit the road and reach large audiences. My dreams are big. I’d love for that opportunity to come along to hit the road.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
My songs are from pure artistic intent. I know how to focus during the recording process and hope people will feel that when they listen to my music. I brand myself by not sounding like anyone else.
Who have you been listening to lately?
I like to listen to Ronald Jenkees at the gym. I like instrumental music to work out to.
Tell us about your passions
I like to find my center excercising at the gym in the am. My career goals are: I want to establish myself as a respected actor in the industry who ‘brings it’ along with establishing myself as a respected musical artist as well.
What else is happening next in your world?
I’d like to finish and release my “Born To Win” album. Also, my band submitted a video to Americas Got Talent and I’m excited about that possible opportunity.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Greg!
