Artist Interview: G Town Records
Tell us about yourself and your music
Big “G” Nutt, I am a southwest rapper i came out of Tucson, AZ. I have been rapping for several years. My first CD The Nutty Era came out in 2000 which basically was sold out the trunk. My second CD The N-U-Double dropped in 2004 which was distributed on CDbaby and did very good in Japan. After that in 2005 i was Locked up and sentenced to 30 years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections with ten years suspended for which i served ten years straight on a twenty year term. My music more so now focusing on how to not end up like me and how i became who i am. The struggles and the things i wasn’t aware of growing up like how they get us into the system and how hard it is to get out. I am the after affect, after the gangs, drug selling, and prison.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My latest release was a two song EP with artist K9 of Reppin Kash Records. Behind Bars was our first video release which garnered close to 300,000 views on youtube. 2 Much Talk was the second video which has almost 230,000. My label “G”Town Records is an independent label that has our own youtube channel check us out. Behind Bars is just like the title the struggle of losing family and being away from your loved ones. 2 much talk focuses more on all the baseless talking or so called rapping going on today. A lot being said about nothing and the ones that got something to say being over shadowed by greedy labels putting out any and everything and flooding the markets. You can find us on iTunes, CDbaby, Iheart, Youtube, and just about anywhere that sells music.
What inspired you to write this release?
Well i got a couple and was invited to the studio by K9 and heard the music and felt it was something i could definitely identify with. So my past experiences helped me to write verses others could relate too.
