Artist Interview: Deion
Tell us about yourself and your music
My name is Deion. I’m from Camden NJ. Ive been living in Philadelphia since 2003. I would consider myself Hip-Hop with Christian influences in my music. I use my music to inspire my peers that when you keep god first, you’ll be able to escape any situation your go through.
What inspired you to write this release?
If anything I would say myself because It helps me improve on how to be an artist.
Im my worst critic and If I feel something for example a song, is not right. I would never move away from that song until i feel we got it.
Any plans to hit the road?
At this time, I’m taking alittle break from doing shows. But be on the look for some shows in Mid to End of 2017.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
I try to not follow the new standards of Hip-Hop today. One thing I do is, I listening to alot of my favorite artists and look at what made them who they are. How they conduct themselves in interviews, doing shows, Studio recording and with all of that It inspires me to be my own artist.
Who have you been listening to lately?
I’ve been listening to my friend Kydeem Alexander, G-Grizz, Rapsody, Jay Electronica, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Common (Black America Again was my favorite album last year.) Joe Budden, Keith Murray, Joey Bad along with Gospel music too.
Tell us about your passions
Food haha. All jokes aside, I play basketball. I also was a Trombone player in my High School days.
What else is happening next in your world?
Well right now there are couple things in development that I’m working on. I’m working on my next studio project that I’m keep close to the best because from what I’m making so far it’s going to be my best work to date. I’m also in talks with doing a collab project with someone I don’t wanna say until everything is official. 2017 is going to be an important year for me and I can’t wait to share with you some amazing things!!
Thanks for an awesome interview, Deion!
