Talk to us more about your latest release
We released our first EP ” The Hive” in 2015. It features 5 songs. Recording this EP meant a lot to all of us. We all poured our heart and soul in to every part of this EP. We are proud of every song from start to finish. The first single that we released was “unnecessary year of wake”. We as a band fell that when the song starts, its fast and it pulls you right in.
We just started recording our first full length album. We do not have a title or release date yet. Our full length will be mixed and produced by Shane Blay from Oh Sleeper/Wovenwar. We have really taken our time in writing this. Our goal is to have every lyric, melody and rhythm create an intense connection with our listeners. We have focused on really developing our sound and now our songs are a bit more darker with more dynamics. Stay tuned for our first single.
What inspired you to write this release?
We all really wanted to write our first full length because during the process of writing out first EP. We had other songs that we had on the back burner. Parts of songs and melody ideas. We really took our time to put everything together. We have added keys and more dynamics that really fit all of our own personal music influences.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
Keeping Dynamic and Tone married with the depth of a Landmine Breakdown … Dear Lucid has never forgotten that light still reaches the deepest trenches. Our new album is a bit darker musically and lyrically. We believe that we stand out not just because of our music. We have been in our local music scene for a while. We help other bands with shows and promoting.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Most of us have been listing to a lot of wage war, the plot in you, deftones, architects, and fit for a king. Brad has been listing to Car Bomb.
What else is happening next in your world?
Earlier this year we added Mike Colon on keys. We really feel like he was the missing piece to this puzzle. His ideas and talent adds a lot and takes us to the next level. Colon goes nuts on stage with his keys and brings even more intense energy to our live show.
We are all really looking forward to releasing our first full length album. We cant wait fo everyone to hear it. This album will connect from every lyric, melody, rhythm and note. We have started playing a few of the songs live already. The response has been incredible. We have some really cool shows in the works for 2018.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Jay!
