Artist Interview: Dave Peaceman
Tell us about yourself and your music
I am a singer/songwriter. I became fascinated with the concept of writing, recording and performing music at age ten. When I saw The Beatles, John Lennon in particular, singing on the Ed Sullivan Show. I have been writing and performing music since I was sixteen. That is how I taught myself to play guitar. If I wanted to learn a new chord, I wrote in to the next song.
Talk to us more about your latest release
Our newest song is called PARTY LIGHTS. It is a D&M song. A D&M song means I co-wrote and recorded it with Michael Winter. He lives in Austria. I live in California. But we haven’t let that stop us from writing and recording forty-eight songs so far.
What inspired you to write this release?
I was riding home from a gig and we passed a police car that had pulled someone over on the freeway. I looked at the lights on his car and said, “Party lights.” My friend who was driving, suggested I write a song about those Party Lights. So the next day I sat down with one of the demos that Michael had sent me, and with in an afternoon, I sent the song back to Michael with the lyrics and vocals done. It was fun!
Any plans to release a video?
All of our Videos are home made. However, here is one I put together for a D&M song called BEACAUSE I LOVE YOU. I would love the opportunity to do professional videos of our songs.
Any plans to hit the road?
Actually, I am between gigs right now. However, I am appearing on The Pic and Purple Show on February 24, ’17. Everyone can tune it for a two hour interview interspersed with live performances of some of the newer songs. I was on this show last year, and it is a ton o’ fun! You and everyone can tune in at www.KTSTanaheim.com The show is on from 6:00pm – 8:00pm PST. More live performances are in the works.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
A brand new sound that you are already familiar with. When you are hearing a song for the first time, you are completely at home. You fell you can sing along in spite of not knowing the lyrics yet.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Lately I have become enthralled with a local act that bill themselves as Darkness and the Junkie Bunch. They have introduced us their audience to a new genre called FolkPunk. Pretty cool stuff and definitely an inspiration to future songs I will be writing.
Tell us about your passions
PEACE I practically live to promote Peace. I strongly believe that if we as a species just sat down and meditated on Peace for just a moment, we would discover that what we have called a natural human thing, (violence,) is really contrary to our instincts. It would only take a moment. Peace for Peace. (Fighting for Peace is counter-productive. It has never, and will never work.)
What else is happening next in your world?
Another song. Another day that is brand new. Another chance to express what ever needs expressing. Future gigs are in the works. They will be announced as they become finalized.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Dave!
