Artist Interview: D. Riley
Tell us about yourself and your music
I would describe my music as storytelling. And my music can actually be very personal to my life, things that are hard to speak about, but are very easy to put in a song. I’m very good at storytelling and coming up with a concept for a song. I like to make songs that have dance/hip-hop vibes to it or it can be dark, and very serious but have a special meaning to it.
Talk to us more about your latest release
Judgmental has just been released on November 2nd, on all platforms, it was written back June. I wanted to write something that was more pop and hip-hop. something that was a lot different anything that I’ve released. I wanted to add more to my style, rather than just freestyling all the time.
What inspired you to write this release?
I really wanted to write more songs that people, can relate to on a personal level. So I’m hoping this song really catches someone ear.
Any plans to release a video?
Yes, I’m currently talking with my video director guy about shooting a music video for the single.
Any plans to hit the road?
As of right now, No gigs are booked, but whenever I do, I usually post them on my social media pages.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
I think the way I brand myself is really the images on my social media, and it’s also the music that speaks for me. I guess you can say I try to be different by just being myself, by bringing my imagination to reality through the music.
Who have you been listening to lately?
J.cole, The Weeknd, 6lack, Russ, and Jessie Reyez
Tell us about your passions
Knowing that I want better for myself, I want to live a life that i know that, I deserve to live. And people tend to believe in my goals and visions, and that’s another thing that gets me even more motivated, it pushes me to go get it.
What else is happening next in your world?
I am planning on dropping a 4-7 song EP in April or May of 2019, that I am currently working on.
