Artist Interview: D.A.N.
Tell us about yourself and your music
Hailing from Atlanta D.A.N. has always known music was my passion. I never wanted to do anything since a child but music. I started out making beats and later gravitated towards being an artist. For me it’s my passion whether working as an artist or working behind the scenes to help my artist on BSG RECORDZ to full fill their dream as a major artist. We aim to help the community as we bring conscious hip hop back to a culture that has forget what music really was about.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My Latest project 3 Kings volume 2 was created after joining with my fellow artist Mic Melta hailing from Brooklyn, & Mr. Exclusive from North Carolina. After great reviews from the first project it was only necesssary we return with a second project. Volume 1 was so inspiring to our fans giving the depth of our lyrics and beats on life and maintaining yourself in making good quality music fans can appreciate. Your sure to like the second coming if 3 kings due out this summer 2017.
What inspired you to write this release?
I was inspired by the response from fans on our first project. Feeling accomplished as fans called this project epic and geared at giving you a glimpse into real life situations we all face daily. I love lyricism an painting a picture with words. So 3 artist D.A.N. , Mic Melta, & Mr. Exclusive returned to do a second coming to the 3 Kings project.
Any plans to release a video?
There are plans to release a few videos to give a better insight into the life of the 3 kings. As we work to complete the second album video ideas are being put in motion to shoot coming in march of 2017.
Any plans to hit the road?
We have attended many shows around the U. S. Already and look to form a mini tour from the success of the first album. We enjoy gracing the stage with performances as we showcase our passion for the music we create. 2 out of 3 of the kings have also had the pleasure of being in Radio as host, production manager, music coordinator, & Show manager.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
Branding is something that I did from the beginning of our career. We had logos, apparel, wood chains , we had hats and more. Branding is essential in this industry. It sets you apart from any other artist. BSG RECORDZ acquired a buzz from proper branding at every event we attended. Also making music that stands out with the focus on reality An bringing hip hop back to the culture. Originality will always set any one apart from the many artist who sound and look the same.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Lately not a lot of artist catch my attention. I listen to Fabulous an the late Sean P, 2 Chainz, migos. I not to into this new mumble rap or trap music but there are a few I can appreciate. Such as YFN LUCCI and Rae Shumerda.
Tell us about your passions
Besides music MSN giving back to my culture. Helping out my community as music is the gateway to our youth. Showing them that it’s more to music than just making the music. There are so many less fortunate who need people to look up to mentors. Guidance to our youth is what I often seek as it was given to me by the older generations coming up. We don’t have that anymore as fathers and men are being incarcerated and dying at alarming rates now.
What else is happening next in your world?
One of our artist on BSG, Coraezy Hitz has started production of a Radio Station called Tripmine Radio. It’s geared at helping upcoming artist get spins interviews and. Networking with them to help further their careers. It’s kinda like a pay it forward thing to help those unaware of proper business etiquettes An how to properly get your music heard. We aim at helping those understand the complexity of this music generation of today ad streams and downloads replace cd sales. As the world changes we wanna help artist. Adapt to the new era of music.
Thanks for an awesome interview, Rich!
