Artist Interview: Audiodrone
Tell us about yourself and your music
Hey there! My name is Audiodrone. I’ve been making music since 2004 and things have really been picking up the last couple of years. The style of music I make is gritty yet sometimes melodic and is inspired by robotic sounds and cyberpunk themes such as Blade Runner and Ghost in the Shell. I also am Co-owner of Mosh Squad, a heavy bass music company dedicated to underground releases and throwing events. I run it in partnership with MurMur, the head of operations, and an amazing staff that supports the brand 100%.
Talk to us more about your latest release
My newest release is a Drum and Bass heavy EP called Neurotoxin featuring collaborations from Ryujin, Leir, and Epyk. It was the culmination of about a year of work and is one of my proudest albums to date. 4 month after its release, a remix EP was released featuring 7 tracks from different artists in their own style.
What inspired you to write this release?
My biggest inspiration to write this release was my obsession with cyberpunk and post futuristic hacker culture. I really want to move forward doing my next release in the same fashion. My audience has really taken to the style and they seem to really enjoy it. This had been my most successful release as of yet and it feels good to have been able to get so many artists involved on the project.
Any plans to release a video?
I would love to release a video! It would definitely have to be animated! As of now we make these equalizer videos over at Mosh Squad.
Any plans to hit the road?
I would love to hit the road someday soon. Mosh Squad is planning a country wide tour, but I don’t see that coming to fruition until at least 2018 or 2019. As of now, I’ve been really blessed to have played regionally all over New England, doing a show nearly every month since last November. I’m hoping that this continues and grows into more national bookings. My next show takes me out of the New England area as It takes place on Long Island at Munoz Stock 2017!
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
I really think that what makes me stand out is my theme and also my attention to details. I’m not afraid to push the genre envelope and bring something new to my fans with every release. I like to make complex music that is easy to listen to while also being high energy, making it easy to party to as well.
Who have you been listening to lately?
I’ve been on a Neurofunk kick for the last 6-8 months. Artists like Nosia, Mefjus, and Zardonic. I’ve also been listening to alot of heavy Dubstep such and Excision and Datsik.
Tell us about your passions
I love to go outdoors! Hiking, biking, swimming, boating. I also love to travel and see new places. Road trips are the best!
What else is happening next in your world?
The next big thing I have planned is massive brand growth for both Mosh Squad and Audiodrone. Now that I feel I’ve found my style I can go anywhere with it and really do something special with it. My goal is to bring an experience to my listeners, something that will leave them with memories for years to come!
Thanks for an awesome interview, Steve!
