Artist Interview: Assisted Living
Tell us about yourself and your music
Assisted Living is the work of Steve Hennesey and John Madeiro. Two old friends who reconnected after almost 30 years apart. We linked up through Facebook, Steve moved back to town (married my wife’s sister-drummers :). The name reflects 2 older musicians in there 50’s learning about social media, internet radio, Facebook and all the other media sites available. We are having so much fun!
Talk to us more about your latest release
“Groovey” is an 8 song release that jumps everywhere musically. Our song “Wishful” won an instrumental award. The creative writing started and we revisited some of the songs we played back in the 80’s but put a new twist on them….Groovey[/gravityforms]
What inspired you to write this release?
When Steve and finally reconnected after all those years we really wanted to see if we still “had the chops”. After knocking the rust off and learning more about the recording process we began the journey which would produce “Groovey”.
Any plans to release a video?
We just released the opening track “Let it Rain”.
Any plans to hit the road?
Not at this time, just being a 2 man band we are navigating the social media world.
As an indie artist, how do you brand yourself and your music to stand out from the rest of the artists out there?
The band name Assisted Living kinda says it all. Music written and performed by musicians and bands of all ages breaks down the barriers of old. We have more fans commenting on the “Old school vibe” from our music yet realizing that even guys in there 50’s can still be relevant.
Who have you been listening to lately?
Bruno Mars is one of our favorites. Of course the classic rock bands Bad company, Styx, Journey recently the Trans Siberian Orchestra
Tell us about your passions
Family and friends. Two great sons (Adam and Matt) and the opportunity to keep making music.
What else is happening next in your world?
We just recently signed a deal with Music Dish China for distribution in Asia. Have signed several Sync Licensing deals and starting a new indie music website called Offstage Live www.offstagelive.com
Thanks for an awesome interview, John!
