Tell us about yourself and your music
At the age of 5 my patents gave me a choice. They said it’s important to have music in one’s life and I needed to pick the instrument I was going to learn. I had just seen a man named Joe Jack play the accordion. My aunt knew him and had brought him to the house. A blind man playing the accordion inspired me. I learned the accordion and later piano and a bit of guitar. Eventually I found my voice and started singing. Once my first daughter was born, I gave up music but the kids have since grown and I found myself back in the music business. Slant six was born and I’m glad I’m back at it. I also started an indie label and I manage other indie bands.
Talk to us more about your latest release
Slant six which is myself and Mike Chapman on guitar, Steven Harris on bass, Chris Pigeot on drums and latest addition Joe Chandler on guitar, has one single out called Bring on the storm. We recorded it in the basement intending to keep it for ourselves and submissions but the fires in Fort Mac Murray inspired us to release on itunes so we could raise funds for the victims. We recorded it with will marks tom on guitar as Joe hadn’t joined us yet and jay Sitar on acoustic. Jay and will have since left us thus the arrival of Joe chandler
What inspired you to write this release?
The song is about getting back up when you’re down staying positive and standing ready for the bad times. We all have our bad times but life is about facing it head on and enjoying the good times to the fullest when you get them. Bring on the storm… we re ready.
