Tell us about yourself and your music
I am Igor, I grew up in Santurtzi, Basque Country (Spain). I picked up sax at 8 years old, guitar at 13 and started playing in bands around the Bilbao area until I decided to move to London in 2012 to continue my music studies at the University of Westminster. On my second year of uni a freak skateboard accident destroyed my elbow, leaving me unable to play guitar for almost a year. During this time I created Evil Pink Machine, an electronic project that allowed me to create music despite my inability to play. I released my debut EP on cassette on April 2014 and after foregoing several surgeries and recovering my ability to play I released the album Inner,Brighter on November 2015. 2016 was the year I moved to Liverpool and started writing my next LP, that will get released in 2017.
Talk to us more about your latest release
“Inner, Brighter” was a turning point; being able to play guitar made a huge difference in the sound and my songwriting definitely benefited from it. Someone suggested that it felt like a concept album, and I liked that idea so my next album will be a concept album, this time purposely.
